Oakwood has an adjoining 26-acre outdoor classroom which is called the Sheldon Nature Area. It has 1.2 miles of ADA compliant compacted screening trails which winds through 6 different eco-systems. There is a shelter with 10 large learning stations, boys and girls passive solar restrooms, and a 20-foot diameter gazebo overlooking the pond. 33 lectern-style signs give visitors the K-5 benchmarks for the immediate area they are standing. The nature center is a wonderful place for all students, teachers, families, and community members!
