Profile Completeness

BASIC

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

Saylesville School has a strong base. Teachers and Specialists are amazing. Staff is bar none 5 stars across the board. You want your children to learn from the best that what your going to get. Amazing staff.

I was a student at Saylesville School and was more than prepared for college prep class in science, math, and government (English was not my strong suit!). I was able to take AP courses for all these. I had a great start there thanks to a great staff!

Saylesville has some serious issues with it's middle school math program. The district administrator, and the school board refused to listen to our concerns and treated us with disrespect. As a result, the math teacher continues to give students higher grades than they deserve. This causes everyone to think the teacher is effective because so many students are receiving A's and B's. When these students get to high school, they are behind in their math studies. Instead of blaming the middle school, blame is put on to the students for not applying themselves or being "developmentally behind". We've put 3 kids thru Saylesville and the problems in math at Saylesville became more evident as each one entered high school. At this school, having the same math teacher for 5th-8th grade is a bad idea. Students can't get a decent math education when stuck with the same teacher for 4 years.

K-5 programs outstanding. Middle school programs average. Staff focus on kids being good, responsible citizens. Students need to be very self organized and self directed as little of that available from staff. Extracurricular available but of marginal quality--focus is instead on fun. Parent involvement average. Overall a solid school.
