I am a current student at Sharon. I have attended since I was a toddler. My experience has not been the best. My mother is a teacher there, and we both agree that the school is a wonderful place for students with mental difficulties, but anyone who is advanced or even just slightly over average is not being pushed to their full potential. I think that teaching styles lack challenge. Also, in my opinion, the staff doesn't do a very good job of dealing with issues between students. They are passive when it comes to punishment and leave most of it to the parents. I think they need to be more aggresive when it comes to disiplining students, since trying to "talk" it out is obviously not doing the trick.

I am not a parent but a former student. I am now a second semester college student. I attended Sharon from the second grade on up to big foot.I felt that the school was 50/50. I enjoyed some teachers from their teaching style to how they were able to take time and connect with me, while others just didn't seem to care. The math program is a prelude to the high school CORE math. This style of teaching math has made me two years behind those of my peers costing me valuable time and money. During the sixth grade I was diagnosed with a learning disability (spelling). My mother had trouble getting the school to officially test me, but once I was they worked well around my problem and made every resource available to me. I disliked Sharon while I was there but it is much better than inner city schools.

My child had a wonderful first year at Sharon school but this current year was a failure, from top to bottom. Her class teacher failed to follow through with issues and they were never taken care of by the senior 1/2 grade teacher or the Administrater. We ended up pulling her & she is now homeschooling. A friend's daughter moved to a different school from here and is massively behind her classmates!
