Hi i am an 8th grader at urban this year and i think the school is awesome. There are so many choices and a lot of great activities to do during and after school. Activities include student council, cheerleading, dance team, track, volleyball, basketball, indoor soccer, and much more. Urban has a high respect for the students and staff. Since this is my third year i have had a lot of experiences with this school. I think all of the teachers are awsome and that we have a lot of school spirit. Also, the staff makes sure everyone is safe all the time and is always available if any one needs help. Urban is definitely a great school!

My daughter just graduated from 8th grade at Urban. She had a very good three years at the school. The teachers were very supportive and helpful when she needed help on subjects. I was disappointed in the PACE program. When my daughter was in PACE in elementary school, they had weekly activities. When she moved to Urban, they rarely did anything with her. She was in for 'general intelligence' and they just didn't have much to perk her interest. Some of the PACE children went on field trips all three years; my daughter finally went on a field trip in eigth grade - and then it wasn't even something that she was really interested in. I think that some children received more out of the middle school PACE than my daughter. The only other problem that we had was with the 7th grade team - regarding clothing. My daughter was constantly being told that her shirts were inappropriate because they sometimes pulled up out of her pants. My daughter said that other girls in the same team were wearing much worse shirts and seemed to never get reprimanded. The clothing issue had been causing some real problems because it was taking away from her education experience. The teachers seemed to be overly concerned about the shirts issue. Overall, I say that Urban is a very good school; the children seem to get along well with each other and the teachers all seemed to go overboard in providing good learning experiences and activities; they didn't just lecture.
