I just don't understand all the positive reviews for this school. This is our second year attending and it is, plain and simple, sub-par! Yes, the teachers may be nice but this does not help our children to excel in academics, arts, leadership, etc. this school lacks special educational resources, diversity, and leadership; the principal needs to go! We need someone that will be proactive in reaching out to parent and students, out in the community more, and to advocate for the teachers and the school so changes can be made to keep up with surrounding schools, specifically nearby Twin Cities. This is a small school in a small town that is 99% caucasian and teaches to the "middle". The resources are severely lacking for kids working ahead or behind of their peers. And who knows what the board's agenda is as they allow private organizations (Boy Scouts) in the school, DURING SCHOOL HOURS to solicit our kids when they should be learning! There isn't even a PTA! I totally regret ever moving to Somerset just for the schools alone. There is a private school in the area, but not being Catholoc that doesn't help our situation. And you all are concerned with the busing system???

We have special needs kids, and the school has been very accommodating. I continue to be impressed by their willingness to work with our kids and keep them in the regular education setting.

I love the school. I don't like that they took the busing away from the children and they have changed the time so now every school high middle and elementary all go at the same time. which traffic is so heavy and it causes a lot of tardiness. I think my 7 year old is too young to walk so far even 4 blocks can be too far. But for education it is awesome they really care about your child.

I love the school, however, I just don't agree with the busing system. Next year my child, 10 yrs old then, in 5th grade will have to walk to and from school in any weather because we live in town. Why do we pay such high taxes on our property when we aren't even getting busing.

I have three children in the Somerset Elementary School, I think the school is good academically, I've been pleased with the progress my children have made at the school. The administration on the other hand, is absolutely horrendous! It is an autocracy with the superintendent as the sole decision maker and the 'Board of Education' as a group of 'rubber stampers' for the superintendent. There is not PTO or PTA group to off-set any of the superintendent's power, and quite simply the superintendent AND the Board of Education don't care what the parents in the district think.
