This school is amazing! I was worried about putting my son in school early with an August birthday since he would be the youngest, but he has more than thrived! By mid-kindergarten, he learned how to read, was doing complicated math, and excelling in every area. Principal McNally is wonderful, friendly, and very easy to get ahold of if you have a question. The kindergarten class has a main teacher, 2 teacher aides, and parent helpers in the class so the students receive a lot of direct interaction. I highly, highly recommend this school!

Parent-led public charter school established in 1996 with 400 students in K-8. Great curriculum and instruction method in smaller ability based groups. An excellent program with research proven techniques and sequencing of lessons to provide a broad base of knowledge. Gives students the advantage for lifelong learning. Check out ED Hirsch's CoreKnowledge Curriculum and Examine the scientifically proven Direct Instruction method for K-5. Website http://www.verona.k12.wi.us/page.cfm?p=8

Core Knowledge Charter School has the best of both worlds combined under one roof for students K-8 in terms of both structure & continuity of curriculm and direct instruction for K-5 ! The staff are eminently qualified and continually demonstrate a level of commitment that makes our school one of the best and longest running charter schools in Wisconsin! All 4 of my kids go to CKCS. A 3rd grader, 5th, 6th and 7th. It's an awesome school! Kids are challenged academically and develop very good discipline. I like it that it's from K-8. The teachers are very knowledgeable and cares a lot for their students. It has a welcoming and family environment. Students are closely monitored and parents are very involved.

We have been very impressed with the teaching technique for reading. Our daughter was reading by the end of Kindergarten and in 1st grade she loves reading and is reading at a 2nd grade level. Our daughter enjoys the school and feels impowered there. We enjoy the feel of a small school, our daughter is known by staff and teachers and is able to get to know her whole class grade. Parents are invited to assist in the classroom on a daily basis. As a parent I feel welcomed and a true part of my daughters school.
