Waunakee Prairie Elementary School

Class size in on the rise. Average class size for the K-2 grades is 22 children. Seems high when you compare with other areas districts- Middleton, Shorewood are sitting at 18-20. With 22 in the class it is difficult for the children to get one on one time with the teachers. However, teachers and staff are great and care about the kids.

Besides receiving a 9 out of 10 in the GreatSchools Rating, Prairie Elementary is a wonderful school to attend or work at. The staff is top-notch and full of warm, caring people. People move to our village for our schools and that, right there, tells you how wonderful our schools are and why Prairie Elementary is such a great place to work at!

my daughter loves prairie,as do I.Prairie provides a spanish class from 1rst - 4rth grade! the teachers are stupendous too. I highly reccomend this school.

My two daughters, new to Prarie Elementary, this fall also love this school. Teachers are first rate and challenge the students with interesting and relevant subject matter. The principal is outstanding and is involved in all aspects of the school and has to be given credit for creating a safe and respectful environment for the kids. Maybe most important for a suburban school that has some fairly affluent neighborhoods, it has a diverse student body that draws kids from all over the area and reflects more of what these kids will face when they get out in the world. This diversity combined with first rate teachers and dedicated parents make Prarie Elementary a great school!

My son loves his school, and I do too. Each child gets onon-on-one time with teachers. The environment is warm and inviting for children. My son is in a full-immersion spanish class and he is only in the first grade! Prairie also provides excellent after school programs and continues to use new and innovative strategies to improve the quality of teaching the children receive.
