Make a recipe with your child to go along with a book he has read.

What you’ll need

  • A book your child has read
  • Ingredients for a recipe

Here’s how to do it

Have your child choose a book he has recently read. Ask him what kind of food he thinks one of the characters would eat and why.

For example, if your child has read the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, a suggested recipe could be shepherd’s pie or Yorkshire pudding.

Have your child support his ideas from parts of the book. If he is not sure what kinds of food are eaten in that part of the world or during that time period, have him look in an encyclopedia or do research online. Then find a recipe for the food, make it with your child and enjoy.
