Create a felt storyboard with your child. He can retell one of his favorite stories or make up his own.

What You’ll Need

  • Felt material in different colors
  • Cardboard or poster board
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Beads, buttons, feathers, yarn, ribbon and other bits of material to add to the felt (optional)
  • Markers (optional)
  • Large ziplock bag

Here’s How To Do It

Stretch a piece of felt over the cardboard and glue it on to the back. This will be the background. Cut out shapes of people, animals, trees, flowers, houses, castles and other objects to use in creating a story. Ask your child to suggest other props or characters to cut out. Have your child help you decorate them using markers and other materials such as small buttons for eyes or feathers for wings. Have your child retell or create a story using the characters and objects. Staple a ziplock bag to the back of the board. Store the felt people and objects in the bag for later use.
