As your child becomes a more accomplished writer, you can have some fun with this activity.
What you’ll need:
- Ingredients for a recipe
- Pen or pencil
Here’s how to do it
Find out what your child wants for lunch using the ingredients you have on hand. Agree to make what he requests, but tell him you need step-by-step specific instructions written down so you can make it “just right.” For example, your child might write instructions for making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. After your child has finished, follow the instructions exactly as written. Watch the giggling begin if your child forgot to tell you to open the peanut butter jar, or get the bread out of the bag, or use a knife to spread the jelly!
