Advanced math in middle school:

Algebra 1 is typically offered as an advanced math course for students in middle school (it's a standard math class in high school). When information is missing in our display, it's most likely because the schools in this district either did not offer Algebra 1 to 8th grade students, or because the schools in this district did not have students in 8th grade. It may also be that the missing data was not included in the federal Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC). (See "Sources" for more information.) Note: While schools in this district may offer Algebra 1 in 7th or 8th grades, we are displaying 8th grade Algebra 1 participation and pass rate information only, because the CRDC data set did not include pass rate information for 7th grade students.

Advanced math and science in high school:

Advanced Placement (AP) classes are rigorous classes with a final exam. The percentage of students taking AP classes may reflect whether the district culture is focused on college. When information is missing in our display, it's most likely because the schools in this district did not offer these courses.

Why don’t I see AP pass rates?

When information is missing in our display, it may be because the schools in this district did not offer these courses or because the data wasn't included in the federal Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC). Information about students taking and/or passing AP science or math exams is not part of the data provided by the CRDC. (See "Sources" for more information.)

What courses are included in "Other AP course participation?"

"Other subjects" include all AP courses other than those in mathematics and science. For example, AP computer science and AP world languages and cultures are included in "other subjects." Note: a combined view of participation in any AP course can be found in the College Readiness module.
