Feelings Collage

In this activity your preschooler makes a collage that expresses different emotions.

By Miriam Myers , GreatSchools Staff

Studies have shown that the better a preschooler is able to express his feelings, the stronger his social skills are. Help your child discuss his feelings and make a collage with images of people expressing different emotions.

What You'll Need

  • Magazines
  • Cardboard or poster board
  • Scissors
  • Glue or glue sticks

Here's How to Do It

Talk with your child about different feelings and situations when you or he has experienced those emotions. Flip through magazines together and have your child find images of people with various expressions. Ask him, "What is this person feeling? Have you ever felt this way?" Have him select some of the pictures and help him cut out and glue them on the cardboard to create a collage.
