I haven't seen a lot of reviews on the disability and emotional support at Paxon, and that is probably because it is disappointing. Often, students with 504s do not have their needs accommodated without a fight. The education on disabilities and how to treat disabled classmates is nonexistent, and can be shown in the language used to describe students of all abilities (the r-slur is used fairly commonly and other slurs have yet to be addressed in any real way). Some counselors at this school refuse to listen to students' requests for services based on their IEPs and 504s. There have been multiple accounts of repeated reported bullying to students in minority groups with no or little punishment. These incidents include the use of slurs and harassment (in and outside of the school building) Many students feel unsafe and like they could be targeted for bullying. There have also been fights and other threats of violence. While the counselors and administrators do not seem to care about student health and safety, most teachers do. Many students feel more comfortable talking to teachers than counselors about issues they are facing, and typically teachers show more support in helping the students. The caring teachers at this school almost make up for the ignored bullying, but not quite.
Also, the school building seems to currently be falling apart. There are bugs and even rodents all over this building, both in classrooms and the hallways. There is also a large water leakage problem, and many ceiling tiles are leaking and have to be taken out after storms.
The Pottercup is one bonus of the school, or at least it would be if the students at the other school (Haverford Middle School) didn't always end up fighting a student.
