Of course. It comes to a point where your tired of asking people for money. What's the point of learning to be a adult if we can't get jobs.

Yes definetly it builds character and gives them a little spending cash my 27 year old now a RN had summer jobs it taught her people skills and responsibility plus she felt so proud of herself when she bougth stuff with her own money.

In previous years, it's great to see kids working or volunteering. The problem is the economy is tight, and college kids seem to have beaten the high schoolers to the punch.

If it's not the money, I do encourage volunteer work.

I think summer jobs are a great way to build character. If a teen has nothing else going on for the summer it's a great way to fill up time, learn a skill and earn some cash.

Yes- especially if they are juniors or seniors. These days many professions are offering summer internships to high school students. I say get off the couch and get a job!
