Twenty-six states have a high school exit exam or have plans to put one in place. Do you think these tests are a good thing? What about for special needs students? Should they be required to pass in order to get a diploma?
Oh really. OK - who in NJ will advocate for me and I will be happy to go to the State of Education, Lucille Davey COmmissioner, and Roberta Whorle, and the place they let you request to state what happened. And you and your advocate will come with me? What grade is your child in school?15441
I think there is something wrong with spending 4 years going to class every day, working hard to pass all your required classes. Doing everything that is asked for you, only to bump out because of test anxiety. If students do not know the material being taught and yet get passing grades, then go after the school, not the students.15436
I forgot to mention this. My son is a 2nd year college student. When we narrowed done which Colleges to three Mercer UNi. Macon, GA App. State Boone, NC & University of Dayton Dayton, OH the two out of state colleges told us they really do not heavily use the GPA from NC as it is inflated (classes offered are subpar) but are Very swayed by the SAT or ACT test scores. Even the NC school said his GPA would have been nicer if it had been higher but his SAT score was excellent his GPA was 3.9 going into his junior year of h.s. then dropped to 3.1 at graduation. He attends App.State. So, that is why I push for more study of those test then anything. 15435
No. Students work hard in school and with tons of homework. If all that matters is this stupid test then the people wanting with to exist is a real loser! how many people will drop out? how many will feel stupid if they don't pass?15434
High School is supposed to prepare a student for real life. In real life we are "tested" all the time. Although an exam is not pleasant thing to have hanging over your head - the fact is- an exam -with real consequences- is actually the type of challange one needs under theirr belt before they go out in the real world.15433
