Despite being highly unethical and completely immoral, they allow their staff to fraternize with the children parents, then proceed to have their staff members move their children into the homes of their staff members. Withhold the children's living address, despite court orders being in place that it needs to be provided. Preschool teachers are fraternizing with parents and pursuing romantic relationships with parents who are coaching the children into calling the teacher mother. Highly unethical, please see Google reviews. Much more detailed review on Google with links attached to the types of people that their preschool teachers associate themselves with. Do not go to the school, do not put your children into this school, it is highly professional, highly unethical and their employees break the law.

This is a rigorous school, that promotes excellence, but all not all perspectives are respected. It is a very left wing liberal environment, almost to a rather comedic fault, and critical of students whose perspectives don't align with that. A school that promotes inclusion and tolerance really isn't inclusive and tolerant if kids are silenced for not believing what everyone else does. It's a lot like an extreme right wing nationalist school, only on the other side of the spectrum. Extreme is never good. Students need balanced opportunities to learn how to think, not be taught what to think and what to believe through intimidation and coercion.

We are delighted to share that our son had the opportunity to attend Saint Lawrence Catholic School for the 2023-2024 academic year. Our experience with the school exceeded our expectations and left a lasting impression on our family. We are incredibly grateful for making the right decision and choosing Saint Lawrence Catholic School for our son's education.

Oak Grove is okay for elementary, but quite lacking for middle and high school. The STEM program is abysmal, and the student's standardized test scores in math and science attest to that. Grammar and writing programs are excellent, but the subject matter and reading material as the students progress to higher grades are boring and tedious. Many of the teachers do not use the classical method to teach, and there are teachers who are not certified to teach at all. Sports and arts programs are pretty much nonexistent. The school has been renting space in a church for like 15 years now, with no hope of ever having a permanent building, so students never get to hang their artwork on the walls, leave their science projects on display, etc. They have to schlep all their books and materials back and forth between school and home, and the "sentinels" have to police every piece of loose paper or pencils, water spilled, or anything left behind they aren't allowed to leave one shred of evidence that they were ever there, lest the church has a fit. The headmaster came from another school that had no strategic plan, and he brought that same lack of skill and planning to OGA. So there is really no plan for a permanent school. The description of the school is grossly inaccurate also. This is not a non-denominational Christian school. This is an Evangelical church ONLY school. Families will be looked down upon for being Catholic, Orthodox, Presbyterian, Methodist, etc. Evangelical students will make negative comments to non-Evangelical students, how they are wrong, etc...and there is very little done about it, bc the teachers and admin agree that there way is the only "right" way. There is a strict, but unspoken but very thinly veiled code there that if you aren't part of a working dad, SAHM trad-wife family, you are lesser. There is also a very strong current of right wing political sentiment, and quite a bit of hierarchy among students whose parents are deemed more important due to money or having a special standing in church, etc.

Our two kids went to this school (middle school) and the experience was bad. The standards at different levels are low. The leadership team is not effective when parents highlight problems related to "senior" teachers. In other words, the leadership team has no authority over some teachers. It seems that these teachers are the boss of the leadership team, which is ironic. Parents or tutors need to work hard with the kids in order to compensate the poor teaching of some staff members too. Elementary school was better than middle school, for sure. However, teacher turnover is high. There are a few committed and good teachers but some of them have left the school.

This school has a new principal who joined after school reoped after Covid. She is wonderful but the teachers have no interest in students and their growth. My child's teacher in 2nd and 3rd grade were the only good ones so far. Teachers have too many students per class so not much can be expected no matter how many times you reach them. Its a waste of taxpayers money. Not one ounce of emtional well-being support.

We recently made the switch from a private school to TOPS, and it has been an incredible transition. The resources available at TOPS are truly exceptional. The music program is accessible to all students, fostering a love for music in a way that's inclusive and comprehensive. The art program is nothing short of incredible, providing a creative outlet and nurturing artistic talents across various medium - they even have ceramics! Moreover, the teachers at TOPS are supportive and genuinely invested in the success and well-being of every student. They seem to go above and beyond to ensure that each child receives the attention and guidance they need. The site council, akin to a PTA, is outstanding in its efforts to organize events and fundraising activities. Their dedication to the school community is evident in the successful and engaging events that bring families and staff together. We are overjoyed with our decision to join the TOPS family. The sense of community, the quality of education, and the extracurricular opportunities have surpassed our expectations. We are so happy to be a part of this school and look forward to the continued success and growth of our child at TOPS.

I have two boys that go to Whittier Elementary. The teachers and staff really care about their students. There was a situation that happened with a teacher who worked in the special education, but the school worked really fast to ensure all the students safety. The school works with Thrive and they are so amazing! They really help so much with communication between the teachers and parents. They also provide helpful resources. Whittier is a fun school with a cool attitude. Everyone that goes here are reading to learn.

Jefferson Elementary is a wonderfully diverse and culturally accepting school, it's the schools views on students with disabilities and neurodiversity that is severely lacking. Their idea of placement for these kids is outdated and many of the younger kids with an IEP end up getting sent away to another school, on "parent request." The Education Specialist will make strong "suggestions" to parents, using phrases like, "your only options are..." Many students with challenges get sent away, the rest of the staff isn't trained or knowledgeable on the best practices for these kids. For special education there is an equity and belonging issue. There are several children, this year, that they tried to send away, certain "difficult" students with an IEP are not being given a chance. If your child is on an IEP I would be wary. But also come here, show them our children do belong at their school of residence.

Ok, first of all.. the teaching is good. Its ok. Pretty decent. The school campus is nice. But theres some things about the school. 1. Bullying. There are so many bullies at this school and so much drama. Kids are constantly getting into trouble and doing bad things. 2. Some teachers are REALLY mean.. like, really mean. Im not gonna say who, but some teacher ive had were a bit.. off 3. Kids at this school act really inappropriate.

The teachers were wonderful, but the administration is captured by the usual ideological insanity of our times. Our son was being bullied every day in 4th grade--pretty heinous stuff--but the school refused to do anything meaningful about the situation because the bully was Black. I don't hold anything against the bully--he was having a very hard time which was causing him to act out--but the adults in the school failed to act because they couldn't see past their politics and address the situation of what was happening with two hurting children as individuals. We we warned about the school from some friends of ours who's child had similar difficulties, and I'd wish we'd listened.

I am very disappointed with the school, my children have been here from Kindergarten to 2nd grade. Our teacher, 2nd grade, is retiring this year. Feels that she is really done with her job. She prefers girls and doesn’t really care about boys. The girls in her classroom think that they are better than others and bully boys. The teacher doesn’t treat students equally. As a parent I feel very helpless! Only the ESL Teacher in our 2nd grade and Kindergarten teacher seem to be adequate, nice and kind.

Not a safe space for kids diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. My third grader transferred in having no previous issues in other public schools. Immediately the school psychologist set out to overturn his diagnosis and remove his special education services which she eventually did despite protestations from other professionals. In her opinion he simply wasn’t autistic enough to warrant support. We were then told if we wanted him to continue to get the services he has been given (that we never sought out or asked for, but helped him in school greatly) since kindergarten that we would have to get a doctor to diagnose him with ADHD? Baffling stuff. This same psychologist said that we were being irresponsible by traveling with our children over the summer instead of putting him in summer school for 5 weeks. My son was bullied for months in the winter and the principals response was “well there’s nothing we can do about it unless we know who did it.” My son is autistic and doesn’t know the names of any his classmates. He has always self isolated. The idea that he would be able and expected to name them showed just how little they cared for or knew about my son! My husband is a teacher and he knows when a kid is being bullied just by body language even if he doesn’t see it or get a name directly. The principal also implied the bullying was his fault because he wasn’t doing his class work. She checked the hall cameras and said she didn’t see anything, talked briefly to my son and his class and then washed her hands of it. She then has the audacity to say things like she “cares about his heart.” I saw my 9 year old son learn how to mask in real time in order to just survive the day here. I should’ve withdrawn him from at that very moment. My mistake. He told the psychologist his biggest fear was having to repeat a grade. My disabled son scored above average on all three of his end of the year MAP tests. The principal still refused to promote him to the 4th grade. The fact that they claim to have an emphasis on “open mindedness” is absurd. They clearly only want people to be open minded when it comes to how much homework they want young children to be doing. No room for differing experiences or philosophies at this place which only cares about hounding young kids to “work” and fill out endless worksheets and score high on standardized tests (although we learned even when they do that it’s not enough if you refuse to play their manipulative, soul crushing game)
