Excellet school with good academics in a family like atmosphere. Great choice for a private school.
I have to say that this is the BEST school we have been in years. I believe South Montgomery County Academy is the best school in 30 miles of Grady. We have had no problems with the Headmaster, the teachers, or even any problems with other students. The education quality is very good and the athletics program is good at making everyone feel included and always strives to be the best.
I had 4 children to graduate from SMCA and 2 grandchildren. I have 2 grandchildren in SMCA now. ALL my children have been very successful and when they went to college they made excellent grades.
At one time it was a great school. There is no parental involvement anymore, . Academics are non-existent. Glad I got away while I still had time to prepare for college. Be sure to check the academics here before you consider this school for yourself.
I spent 2 years at SMCA and thus hurt my apptitude in college. This school bases their reputation on the sports program which is no longer what it used to be (which means they don't win anymore). Academics should be a priority, not sports. Anyone who wishes for their child to attend college would not send them here, football is not everything. Thank goodness I didn't spend my entire preliminary education there, or I would not of excelled in college. How many of their graduates have degrees? good jobs? Be sure to check them out throughly before sending your child there.
This school is one of the best things that has happened for our kids. They love the teachers, and the activities at the school. Our kids were in the public school system and it was a joke. This is a very small family oriented school that I would recomend for anyone. They are on the same program that one of the best private schools in Montgomery and the magnet schools are currently using.
This is our community school, and a loving, safe environment for our children. Both of my children have been at SMCA since Kindergarten, and are nurtured by their teachers. It is a school where parents can be as involved or as uninvolved as they choose - there is a place for everyone. That is what makes our school special.
This is our community school, and a great community school. We have all types of people, and all are welcome and a part of what is going on. There is a great sense of belonging, and you can be as involved or uninvolved as you would like. My children have always been at this school, and I have been very pleased with the personal attention they have received from their teachers. Their SAT scores have been very high every year, and their have good friends. They are happy and safe. I could not ask for more.
I would not recommend this school. There is a large faculty turnover every year, and the high school is considered unsound by many parents. There is too much emphasis on the sports program, and not enough attention given to academics. As a former student whose children also attended for a short time, I can say that the children are often not watched after, and the upper grades are quite uncontrolled. Please make unannounced visits and attend a few social activities before you enroll.
I was a former student at grady and it was a very special school to me. The students were close like a family and everyone pulled together to help out! The teachers try their very best to help each student during class time. Grady is a excellent school and I would encourage parents to send their child or children to SMCA.
