I am a current student at Lowndes, and i think the school is a good school, but not the best. One thing i like about the school is how small it is. Coming from a very large public school, i love the one on one attention you get. And yes the students can be harsh at times, but that is with every school. But one comment i do not agree with is, 'If you are a stand offish kind of person and dress all Gothic. Well yes you will be left out because this is a country school.' i do not think this comment is being fair. I know there are a few student that dress 'Gothic' but i don't think that gives the other student any reason to treat the 'Gothic' crowd any differently. (continued on the next comment)

I am a former student. I went to lowndes from K5 to 12th grade. I disagree with most all of the comments. The school was a great school to go to. I did not play sports until my Jr year and I had plenty of friends including the ones who played sports. Academics is what you put into it. My class turned out very successful, Just about all went to colledge and have successfull jobs. If you want to talk about friends , sometimes you may want to look at yourself . If you are a stand offish kind of person and dress all Gothic. Well yes you will be left out because this is a country school. As for snobish people and social groups you show me a school that does not have this .I really enjoyed my time there and am excited about sending my children there.GoRebels.

This is a good school to attend because it has a very great sports program. I do agree that if you don't play sports, starting from the 7th grade and up,you are a little bit out of the popular group. But i do have friends that attend this school don't play sports, still have friends and people they hang out with.from a students point of view the teachers are not snobby like everyone thinks. This school does have flaws like rumors, last names, and some teachers, but all schools have that. This is a great school to attend.

As a current teacher and alumn of Lowndes Academy, I can verify that sports are important, but that is the same as any school that has a sports program. As far as the teachers being snobby, I came from public school to Lowndes and found that they were a family and treated me as though I were their own child. The teacher were helpful and concerned with my education. It has been this same way for my own children who go there. After reading these reviews, I personally know 1 of the authors. Yes, his experience at Lowndes wasn't pleasant. However, no matter where you go to school it won't be perfect. As a student, there are many activites at our school besides sports. Sometimes you have to be self-motivated to participate. Given the other private schools in our area, Lowndes is very good. I know, I make it good.

I attended Lowndes Academy from Kindergarten through the 12th grade. From the time I started school there was always a very distinct social class that the students there took great advantage in knowing. Many of the people that I attended school with had lived in the area their entire lives and many of their parents attended this school as well. It wasn't what you know or how you did in class, it was who you knew. Emphasis was placed on sports and those who played sports and excelled at them were given enough leeway to be able to and get away with it while the rest of us struggled to get by without daily mockery from 90% of the student body. Next to no extracurricular activies were available besides sports and some half-brained attempts at academics. If you're looking for a good education, I advise you seek it elswhere.

i love going to lowndes but some people make it the worst place to be. People who are very snobby and think they own the school are always trying to hassle you about something! Luckily there are a few people there who will be your friend you very quickly. I mean i've been here since 1st grade and i found out around 6th grade that if you don't play sports your treated as an outkast! Thats just my opinion but some people never get rid of that opinion, some people just need to grow up. As for the staff they are all very good teachers and i enjoy every class.

I attended Lowndes in both jr and sr high. This school lost my records when I transferred my sr year and I was unable to graduate. I was also completely unprepared for college. There is very strong emphasis given to sports; little is given to academics. However, if you send your child to this school, be prepared to send them to a fashion show everyday rather than a school. The parents, the teachers, and the staff are extreme snobs and I will never send my children to this school. If you are looking I would like to suggest you keep looking.
