Monroe Academy

This is an outstanding school and one where parents do not have to be concerned about the black impact. Recent data show that schools with a balck population of 45% or more have the lowest ratings in the nation and the greatest discipline and violence problems. We moved out of that environment into MA and it is great. The children can concentrate on studies and the fine educational curriculum while preparing fo college. It is a real fallacy to think the race is so important. The fact is the races rarely interact and go their own way. As a university educator I can state that diversity is absolutely unimportant.

I have one child at Monroe Academy preschool k3, and we truly have enjoyed and loved the progam. We moved from out of state, and everyone welcomed him and made his transition very smooth. He always comes home teaching us new and exciting things. I am a teacher in the public school system in monroe county and want to comment on the race issue for others reading these reviews. My child has experienced both enviorments and has never commented or questioned race. I believe that is something that comes from home. As parents, we influence our children to see people by their actions instead of their color. Even though my son is still young, he has never categorized anyone by their skin only their attitude. I hope other parents will not judge an educational setting by the makeup of race but by the quality of the education recieved.

i have 4 children at Monroe Academy (Junior,8th grade,2nd and K-5) and they absolutely love it there as well as me and my husband. The fact that there is only one group of race concerns me because when they go off to college,they will have to study with different races and i feel like we arent preparing them for the college life and/as or work life. All in All MA is great for excelling in the social,christian,and academic acheivement. If you move into this part of Alabama send them to MA! Lol

Monroe Academy has been a positive experience for our family. Our SAT 10 test scores are well above the national average and the other schools in this area. We have a great music program- including an elementary band and choir. Our students excelled in the state art show. Beginning in preschool, the students learn to use computers. The school has always relied on parents to volunteer their time and efforts - this remains true. Probably the most important reason for sending your child to Monroe Academy is that it is a safe and secure environment- students are not bringing drugs and weapons to school- our students are respectful and well mannered. Lastly, the curriculum is excellent- and we are a Blue Ribbon School meaning that we meet or exceed the Alabama Independent School Association's criteria and we are approved by SACS.

We have two children at Monroe Academy and we are very pleased with the teachers and the curriculum that they are taught. I believe that the reading program in K-5 is very challenging- yet at the same time, my child was engaged in stimulating and fun activities. My children start the day with a devotion and a prayer- how refreshing! Also, our SAT results for the 06-07 year are in and our students' scores were well above the national average. There is also the opportunity to participate in music (choir and band) athletics and art programs - the talent in the school is phenomenal. My children have learned about other cultures and countries. The teachers are great; they are there b/c they love to teach and want to be there. My children receive instruction, as well as, hugs daily from their teachers. Also, the parental involvement (volunteer spirit)is super!

We enrolled our two children in Monroe Academy in August 2005. MA is a private school that raises the bar on academia. The students test grade levels higher. The teachers and parents have made us feel like family. We have easily become involed in this short time. It is helpful that MA encourages manners and other good values, which is fastly disappering in our society and public shcools. We feel blessed to have our children attend MA.

I have three children in Monroe Academy. We feel our children are getting the best education they can have. It is great to be able to be envolved in the school. Most of all I appreciate the Christian views taught in the system.

It saddens me the think in this day and age that segregation is so prevalent. It's most than evident in this school. I wanted my children to continue their private education but not in a school where everyone is the same race. That's just not real world, diversity is important.
