Montessori Day school provided a great learning environment for my daughter. The teachers are extremely dedicated and the principal is very involved in all aspects of the school activities. My daughter attended primary (pre-K) and had the best caring teachers, Mrs Ann an Ms Sunny. She is definitely ahead academically and more than ready for Kindergarten. She was a good fit for montessori and loved her teachers, her brothers and sisters and the friendly community.

We have just completed our first year at Montessori Day School. We had one student in the junior elementary (1st grade) and one student in Primary (pre-K). The teachers and staff were extraordinary and really loved the students. My children grew academically and socially in the Montessori environment. The leadership was always available and willing to address parental concerns, and was willing to work with us to find solutions. This school is unique, in that it is a public Montessori, but it does a very good job of adhering to the Montessori philosophy. We feel lucky to have found a public school of this caliber.

This school is great! My son never wants to come home. Every day, mom, can I just stay 5 more minutes. Every day! The teachers all care so much and do a great job. We have done Pre- K here and K-1 here. The Principal knows every family by name. I'm very happy here!

We have been thoroughly impressed with this school. After researching Montessori schools in the East Valley we are very happy we chose Montessori Day School - Lakeshore. The friendly teachers have been great and very accommodating. They do a great job of keeping us up to date on his progress and are happy to discuss his progress or what he may need to work on at home. The school is clean and well maintained. We couldn't be happier with our choice.

Love MDS Lakeshore! I have been at the school for 6 years now, and hope to see all 3 of my children successfully complete the entire Montessori program! Their commitment to Montessori education is amazing. Great staff, incredibly involved and caring community...If you are looking for a Montessori school in the East Valley, this is IT!

I could not be more thrilled with the teachers and staff at MDS-Lakeshore! I am also very impressed with the social and most importantly academic progress. His math, writing and reading skills have improved greatly. I have volunteered in the classroom (this is not mandatory) and I have seen all the kids in his class grow dramatically in academics. The school is a loving, safe place that my very cautious son feels completely at home in. They have also bent over backwards to accommodate his food allergies. I can't say enough great things about this school!

I had high hopes for this school. They were very friendly at the beginning of the tour, but it all changed by the end of it. They had their minds made up already & this is without even seeing my child. The answer was no... I want parents who may be looking into this school to be aware that the Tempe school is not mean't for some children with challenges or special needs. Even a very simple need. I don't like leaving a negative review. I just want other parents out there who have children with a disability NOT have to go through what we did. It's very sad and crushing.

My son started kindergarten and I am well pleased with the school and the progress my child made this year. The teacher, teacher's assistant, principal and aides are all involved. I absolutely love this school and would highly recommend it.

This year, our family reached the milestone of having our oldest son start school! It was a scary and exciting time for our family. We felt the choice of school was a very important decision and have been thrilled with MDS! The teachers have been excellent at communication. The community is warm, welcoming, and diverse. My son is flourishing academically and socially. We love the school, the staff, and the community.

We love this school! It is a little gem. And it is rare to find a chartered (free) Montessori. This is a small school which is wonderful because there is a real community atmosphere. There are some great teachers and staff, and it is a great learning environment. As is to be expected of a small school, there are some things lacking; mostly the facility is maxed out with the current population. On the brink of growth, this school could be even more wonderful with a careful forward-thinking vision.

My family has been attending MDS for almost 3 years. The teachers are excellent and give both my daughters the personal attention they need. The teachers work with the strengths of their students and work with me in my children's weaknesses. There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer. My older daughter is in 2nd grade and reads on the 4th grade level. She is challenged academically and is given freedom to persue her own learning path. The teachers do a great job in teaching interpersonal skills and problem-solving techniques to the kids. We love it at MDS!

My daughter is a kindergartener at this school, and we are so happy with it. We love the sense of community and how involved parents are. The director is amazing, and the teachers are warm and knowledgable. We feel so, so lucky to have found a Montessori program for our very bright daughter -- and the fact that it's free in kindergarten is an added bouns!

My kindergartner is learning so much so quickly right now. Well don't all kindergartners learn so fast? I think most do, but few have such a great synergy between students, teachers, parents, and staff. The principal and office manager know all the kids individually and many parents are involved with a wide variety of projects at the school. This school is a special family and I'm glad that myself, my wife, and my two daughters are part of it.

Dedicated staff and teachers who have a "vision" for the children and the school community. It's amazing how responsive the entire school is, and when problems arise, they are attended to with care and concern. All questions are asked with the best interests of the child as the primary focus, and decisions are made accordingly. They are growing conscientously and with careful consideration of the impact on the environment, both physically and emotionally.

My son started kindergarten at Montessori Day with basically no prior schooling, within months he is reading to me. I LOVE the small classroom combined with the first graders, the teaching and learning that takes place in this sort of environment is perfect for young eager minds. I have always wanted my children to have a Montessori education, but never imagined it being possible due to the high cost. This Charter School makes it possible for any child ready to think out of the classroom box and dive into a world full of knowledge, creativity, and world awareness.

I am very, very appreciative of the staff. My daughter enjoys her teachers and comes back teaching me what she has learned. I value my daughter greatly and am very satisfied with her school, her daily progress and overall growth.

Both my husband and myself are professors of Education at a major University in Arizona. We were looking for a school that would fit the needs of our youngest son. He had graduated from a very "child centered" pre school and we needed a school that would continue his academic and social growth. We looked at many schools in our area, both public and private. We chose Montessori Day because of their Montessori approach and the wonderful child centered atmosphere. The staff is excellent and truly care about each child's individual growth and development. We are always pleased when our son comes home and actually uses new skills. The school also teaches things other schools don't have time to teach/reinforce such as manners, social responsibility, and respect for the earth. We are most happy with our choice and would recommend this school to parents who want their students to excel not only as academics, but as fully actualized people.

As with most, here is good and bad in this school. I'm a firm believer in Montessori, which is one of the reasons I kept my daughter at this school for 4 years. It is a fairly small school so office staff and administration (when they are consistent) get to know each child individually, which is nice. The space is very pleasant - quiet, peaceful, and nestled amongst trees and plants. My biggest criticism, which could be due to charter school status, is lack of resources. My daughter experienced SEVERE learning disabilities for over 3 years. I was very disappointed in the way this was handled. I'm educated, resourceful, and persistent, but ran out of options and received very little direction from the institution. I understand the legal ramifications and limitations of personnel directing me, but feel it is the "experts" obligation to do just that. I felt like a pioneer with no support in getting my daughter the necessary help she needed. Overall, I was happy with the school and felt most of the staff truly cared about my daughter. Unfortunately, as with most schools, they are struggling financially, and it our children are paying the ultimate price.

My daughter is in the toddler program. Earlier, I had her with a home daycare and a chain type daycare center. She was never happy. My co-worker recommended this school. It turns out my daughter loves it. The atmosphere is peaceful and fun at the same time. The teachers stay with the kids throughout the day. Staff turnover is low. The curriculum is structured. Montessori activities keep my daughter busy, active and happy. At the same time, all kids get attention and love from the teachers. Both teachers are experienced and caring. They patiently helped my daughter nap! They know and help enrich each child s different personalities. The mixed age group (1.5 - 3 yr old) makes my daughter happy to learn from the older and to help the younger ones. The classroom and playground is spacious. I highly recommend this program.

My child has been at this school since early 2006 and is probably the smartest 4 year old on the block. Fully reads and writes, does her plus-es and minus-es and knows all the states and continents. Furthermore, she is so knowledgable about other countries, and animal, and plant life that she continually outwits her parents. The school went through some restructuring before the 2007-2008 schoolyear and the new administration and new teachers are all wonderful additions to the school and all prior kinks have been worked out and it now runs like a well oiled machine. They are also so good about teaching the kids independence, great values and social protocol. I feel I am definately getting my money's worth and my child loves going to school and we plan to keep her there through 5th grade.

There have been major challenges to the toddler program in the past month. As a parent I expect honest two-way communication about my child's care. In theory this could be an excellent program, but has continued to fall short of my expectations due to high turnover and staff who demonstrate burn out. I think the quality of education varies from class to class.

Try as they might, the staff cannot make up for the lack of support they receive from the owner. Many parents try to participate, but the administration is so under-staffed that school needs are not presented in a timely manner. In sending my children to this school, I feel as though I have hindered their education. Also the teacher turn-over rate in tremendously high.

Individually, the classrooms provide a wonderful learning environment for the children. The teachers are encouraging to the children and parents in supporting the Montessori theories. I feel confident that my child is becoming her own person and learning from the materials. She has become independent in her thinking and the good choices that she makes. Above all, she loves going to school each day.

My child is in the toddler class, and has made tremendous strides in her vocabulary. The staff is wonderful, and stays consistent with my at home values. They make it very easy to contribute as a parent with many different activities. The teachers and aides are all wonderful to talk to and deal with on a daily basis.

The availability of arts and music seems to waiver with the high-turn over staff. Many of the teachers are great people with low administrative support, not so much from thier campus administrators, but from the owners. There seem to be black holes in the areas of funding for different campuses. That said, the students are generally safe, eager to return and excited about the Montessori pedagogy.

The campus is beautiful, but it feels abandoned and unsafe. This school is one of the more expensive montessori schools in the area. The Director is wonderful.

This school is gravely understaffed. The board members operating this charter do not openly and honestly acknowledge the school's problems when they are addressed by parents, and do not encourage parental input or involvement beyond the level of donations or classroom volunteering. The school has one outstanding, veteran, overworked Junior Elementary teacher, and an outstanding P.E. teacher. There is no P.T.O.

My 3 children all love going to school here. I am amazed at how much they are learning, how safe and loved they feel at school and by the quality of the teachers. I am also pleased by how welcome parents are. I can visit at any time and I frequently can volunteer in the classes.
