Basha Elementary School

My grandson came from India with very poor English,but this school taught him real good English within a year.

Basha has done a wonderful job! My son has thrived academically and is a very well rounded kid. He has attended 2nd and 3rd grades so far.. They seem to strike a nice balance with discipline and homework. He has had teachers who genuinely care. basha has provided and a good learning enviroment without stifling creativity and individuality. Keep up the good work!

Once a great neighborhood school now Basha Elementary is very overcrowded. 28+ students per class in kindergarten,first, and fourth grade without teacher's aides. Many teachers are frustrated with the class sizes and lack of support from the school district. Also, if your child is below or above average your child would fall through the cracks at Basha

With all the budget cuts and issues school districts face state wide, it's hard to satisfy every parent's expectations. Basha Elementary is doing its best to ensure a well rounded school environment for all their students. My daughter loves Basha and has excelled academically and emotionally into a bright young tween thanks to the teachers and staff at Basha. For that, I am more than willing to commute 10 miles from another city to keep her at Basha!!! GO BOBCATS!!!

My son is doing great with the help of the teachers at Basha Elementary. He's learned how to be responsible for the environment and how to be a good citizen. He loves to go to school because the he enjoys the people that make it great.

As a parent of a special needs child I also feel the school or staff act as the child has a behavior problem and not a learning disability. Sure the school has an outstanding program for the gifted students. But when it comes to the struggling child it is the parents problem to solve this situation. I had numerous meetings with teachers and special ed teachers which still had not improved the situation for my child. I moved from another out state which helped my chil reach their highest potential. I am very upset with this school of how they handle helping children with learning disabilities.

I disagree totally with the comments made by parents who have less than exemplary things to say about the programs and services offered at Basha. Not only does the school provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere, but there is a profound sense that they are child-centered. My children love this school! Administration, staff, and parents are friendly and helpful. I spend as much time as I can volunteering in the school and can only say that those who speak negatively about it must be those that do not have the same advantage. I have had many occasions to speak with the administration direclty and I have been met with warmth and compassion. You couldn't ask for anyone more accessible than Keith Falconer. If you're looking for a school community to call home, Basha is an excellent choice!!!

If your child is a conforming normal student the school is ok.If your child has special needs he wont be understood.Everything your child does will be a behavior problem even if your doctor proved it was because of his or her condition.Theres no compasion at all for special need children and they are looked at as far as i can see as just a problem.

As excited as I was going into this school, it has overall been a let down. I was willing to look over the run-down neighborhood and somewhat shoddy nature of the classes in return for (what I hoped was) a quality education. It has not turned out that way. While the school does execptionally well with children that are on the middle spectrum of development for each year, they are not doing well with those who are not. When asking for evaluation of my students' (both of them) skills, they were unable to provide them. With issues with my children's education they provided vague and somewhat nebulous statements, almost insinuating that my children not doing well was my own fault, and that I had no business asking them for assistance in identifying the issues. Sadly, I would have to say that this school is behind the curve on modern educational science.

Basha is an excellent school, with great teachers, and an amaZing staff (Vivian is the best) that makes sure everything runs smoothly. The principal Keith Falconer, is a great inspiration to the kids, parents and staff! Go Bobcats!

My kids love Basha! And our principal, Keith Falconer, is very involved at all school functions. He even allowed his hair to be sprayed PINK! by the class who won a contest at our annual ArtWalk. The teachers and staff are wonderful and there is a real sense of community and shared pride between faculty and our many, generous volunteers. The school makes all of us volunteers feel welcome.

My children have had a great experience at Basha. The teachers and staff are wonderful and caring. The principal is easy to communicate with and is very available to parents. The P.E. program has been especially enjoyable for my kids. They are encouraged to stay active and get involved. Throughout our years at Basha, we have had great teachers, who are very committed to the children and the quality of education. Overall, I think Basha ranks very high in the public school system! I really appreciate all of their hard work!

Basha Elementary School has become overcrowed and due to ther lack of understaffing in certain areas, they ask parents to go above and beyond volunteering obligations. Instead og being in the classroom helping their child, theor are in the cafeteria or in the hallway grading papers. Which I believe is not allowed to be performed by parents due to privacy policies. We left Basha last year and we say not only an improvment in grades, but their overall outlook on getting up and going to school. Basha also needs new fresh faces amongst their staff, with new ides.

Basha has become a truly community-based school. With completely inclusive volunteerism by parents from art programs to sports to after school programs, Basha is a truly integrated triagulated school with input from parents, teachers, and students. My kids have been at Basha since year 1 in 2001. My daughter has gone through Basha from kindergarten to 6th grade and has thrived on taking pride in her school. What more could we ask from today's educator's than to create a pride and responsibility from our kids. Basha Elementary does a great job teaching our kids not just the curriculum dictated by the State, but what it important in our own community. Our teachers truly care. Basha is a fabulous school.

Basha Elementary is a great school. The principal is very involved in day to day activities and the teachers are excellent. Parents are very involved in the school and with the teachers. They have quality after school activities and always have things planned for the children. It is a wonderful school.

Basha Elementary is a great school. My daughter transferred here her 1st grade year and now she is in 3rd grade. They offered the loop up program where her entire class was able to move up to the 2nd grade with the same teacher. What a great transition! The faculty is there to help and provide any assistance when needed. I love this school. Two thumbs up!
