Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

Awful experience with the athletic director! He treats his student athletes like they're all "punks" that need to be taught a lesson. He is not on your side! No communication between coach and parents! Poorly managed! Be aware!

Basha High .my daughter just finished her freshman year and I have to say, I couldn't be happier with her accomplishments this first year. She took three Honors classes this year and was in Avid program. She thrived! Her teachers were/are fantastic and dedicated to the students. She has many friends and to my knowledge has had no bad experiences thus far. She 's been on field trips to colleges and looking into universities around the country to attend already! I feel the teachers have encouraged this motivation of hers and are guiding her on a successful path! Gooo Bears!!

Basha High has been a wonderful school for my children. We have had zero conflicts with other students, the ap program is great, the teachers are great, counselors and principal respond to emails within 24 hours, and sports and orchestra have been wonderful. My daughter graduated this yr with a full tuition offer from all az schools and my son is entering his junior yr. if you are moving from out of state and are looking for a good safe school, Basha is the right place.

Basha is a great school! Everyone is friendly and nice. My child has been a part of the cheer team for several years now and I have nothing to complain about. The previous remark must been from an upset cheer member is no longer on the team and wasn't happy with the teams placement. Win some lose some. The cheer program and the coaches are awesome and care about the members. I would recommend this program to anyone that wanted to be coached by one of the best high school coaches out there. We love our coach and stand behind him.

This school is horrible! After all the high schools I attended so far Basha is known as a "bully school" to all of them. Their cheerleaders do not get along with other schools, they pick random fights, and boo other schools during competitions. When I went to go support my school at a competition in November for State Qualifiers, Basha was bragging about how they other schools suck and that they were gone to take the big title home. When it was announced that Basha took 6th place I wasn't surprise when a lot of other schools were laughing their butts off and booing Basha, for once they got a taste of their own medicine. I agree Basha are pretty good at cheer, but one of the reasons a lot of school, if not all schools in the Phoenix, Glendale, Avondale area hate Basha is because they are big bullies!

This is my 4th year as a bear and I have been completely satisfied with the school. From pep assemblies to football games I'm always having a blast. As for the cheer/Pom team, that I've been on for 3 years, is nothing like the comment below. The coach is amazing and does not prioritize winning. After getting the ONLY back to back state rings Basha has seen, it was taken away from us this past year. As for the coach he is very proud of us and he cant stress that enough to us. We work ourselves to the limit because it's what we love to do, winning is what WE strive for NOT what he expects. As for paying to be on the team, it is very cheap compared to any all star team or dance studio that DOES (coming from an experienced studio dancer that quit to join school activities) rob you of your money. He is the best coach ive ever had, and as for the person below who knows nothing about our team, watch our competition videos on youtube and tell me that each student doesnt want to be on the team WINNING. We love what we do regardless, and you can tell in our faces when we kill our routines that he has put every ounce of love into. Go Bears!

Initially, we were pleased with Basha's apparent commitment to academics, however, many wonderful teachers have left this past year due to lack of administrative support and district budget cuts. The administration and athletic department doesn't resolve parent complaints about the cheer/pom program. They allow the coach to be financially irresponsible, rude and crass, fleece the parents of their money, and put students at risk for injury. Competition is prioritized rather than promoting school spirit and supporting other athletic programs. There appears to be a complete lack of supervision and disregard for the head coach's conduct; berating is not coaching. I would not recommend any parent allowing their child to participate in the cheer/pom program as it is the antithesis of what a true spirit line should be.

We came to Basha from a similarly ranked public high school in Montana. One daughter graduated from Basha in 2013; another will in 2015. Compared to the Montana high school, from which our eldest daughter graduated, I would say that Basha is a good school. The principal and teachers are very easy to communicate with. Some teachers are fantastic--smart, dedicated, loved by students, effective--and others are not. (It's a shame students can't publicly rate their teachers!) The student body is a mix of dedicated scholars and students who are there because they have to be. Basha offers a huge selection of AP classes and electives. Great field trips too! Chicago (band), Catalina Island (AP biology), Disneyland (orchestra), etc. What do students think? After listening to my own child (she's in all AP and honors classes and has a 4.3 gpa.) complain about teachers, students or homework, I have offered many times to take her out of Basha and enroll her at BASIS but she declines every time. :)

I've gone to basha for 2 years now and I think it is one of the best high schools in arizona! The teachers are really cool and there are lots of classes for peoples different interests. The sports and band are very successful also. For the most part the students are really nice too. The administration isn't too strict but they do enforce the rules which is good

I have one child who graduated from Basha and one still attending on open enrollment. The school has been such a positive experience for the whole family. Mr James, the principal is always visable and very involved. My children have been involved in sports, clubs, honors classes and much more and we love the school spirit! Several teachers and advisors have gone above and beyond to help my children succeed. I feel Basha High offers a well rounded education. Both of my children earned the AIMS waiver due to their educational experience and still had fun in sports much more.

I've been very impressed with Basha H.S so much so that my son will be attending his senior year as an open enrollment student. We live in the Higley School Distrcit, but there is no way we'd pull our son out of Basha. We've had nothing but positive experiences with the administration and faculty. Also my son is taking mostly AP or Honors courses and we find that the teachers go above and beyond when it comes to preparing our students for secondary education and the "real life." I have 5 additional children that I look forward to attending Basha in the future! Go Basha Bears!!!!

Both of my children attended Basha and both enjoyed the experience. They both have also been accepted to a top 10 University on full ride for Academics, not sports. I think the school has a great mix of Sports, Advanced Academics, and Arts.

I've been a parent at BHS for the past 4 years, my daughter is a Senior. I have been very pleased with Basha. My daughter has taken mostly Honor and AP classes and I've found her to have extremely passionate teachers that are willing to go the extra mile to help those students who want to excell! What more can you ask for? I'm very active at the school and love that parents are welcome to be involved and I feel that makes a difference as well. The kids (for the most part) are respectful and well mannered. Keep up the great work Basha! Go Bears!

Hey, parent, I go to the school. And if our ratings are good that means we're getting stuff done. Besides, students don't get away with whatever they want. I'm a senior this year and this year especially, the rules are getting tighter. And that's a good thing. Basha's been a great experience for me, for the education and the life lessons. I'm proud to say I'm graduating from Basha.

Basha is a great place for kids who want to be social, not a great place for kids to learn. Students are allowed to do whatever they want in the classrooms, including talking, being disrespectful to the teachers and otherwise making the learning environment difficult for those who want to learn. The teachers do not have support when it comes to discipline issues. As a parent and teacher (for the last 17 years) I think it is very sad what our schools have come to. The stats look good when compared to other districts, but when you see for yourself and your kids tell you what goes on, it's a totally different perspective.

There is too much focus on Athletics and sports. Academics too often takes a back seat to sports, especially football. The administration is trying too hard to be better than hamiltons football program, and it is costing the students.

The athletic politics are a major problem. To accept inexperienced and who you know players over visablly talented and more experienced players with high grades says alot about the fairness and integrity of this high school. What are you representing as adults and coaches? The athletic department and teachers need to be re-evaluated and instucted in balanced, fair criteria shown for each student, but it has to start with the administration and raising the standards of excellent in unbiased evaluations.

Great opening of school! Students looked happy and excited to begin their school year. Very professional Administration and Office personnel. The one thing I am truely happy with is communicating with my son's teachers by E-mail. School Campus is very clean and inviting, I truely believe this is going to be one of my son's BEST Years at Basha High School.

The Principal is leaving and that is a good thing. She has never been proactive and has always overreacted when certain situations arose. Some of the teachers feel that they are entitled and are not there for the right reasons. Next year will be interesting with a new principal. Hopefully, they can bring Basha around to being a good school.

There are some great people at Basha, but the administration is going through some changes. The principal, who we think is great is leaving and the current people in the running scare me. Maybe some racial issues with some of the secondary administrators.

I agree, to take away math class rooms in order to make them child care rooms, where is the wisdom in that? Overall academics are weak, are the music programs. Admin. seems to only care about sports and money making ideas (child care). We moved here from NY and are very dissappointed in the school.

I am currently a senior at Basha and although I love my school and enjoy attending BHS, I do not like administration. Something has to be wrong if most of the counselor's have left. Also, student government's ideas are often shut down that wouldn't normally be shut down at other schools in the district. I just think administration should lighten up a bit.

The sports department needs to be re-evaluated. It is obvious that there is a lot of politics in this department. Basha has an extreme amount of talent that is not being utilized. It seems that it's not what you know, it's who you know. How unfortunate for the kids and the school Let's be fare.

From a parent's view point... I think academics are fairly strong, but the high school is so new it doesn't have the clout of an established contender (as far as on-looking colleges are concerned). Sports are up and coming - decent teams in the major sports, but has suffered early on (again) due to newness of the school. 5 years from now, I believe Basha will be contending with other local high schools (i.e. Hamilton) for area title(s). Music program is good - way above other schools, yet behind some of the dominant musically inclined programs. Only knock on Basha is the auditorium used for orchestral and choir recitals - having visited many local high schools for various events, I feel Basha's is way to small and an extremely poor design.

Basha High is an excellent school, it is a place where your student can truly excel with incredible teachers and staff. I am very pleased with the Adminstration, and their constant support. The extracurricular activities are great, and new organizations forming every year. The best advice I can give you, it is to tell your child to get involved.

Well Basha High School is a school that you either you like it or you don't. Parents are very involved with very many things such as involvment of school Dances, Plays, Concerts, Sports, and other extracurricular activities. Basha just started a new program called the A+ Lab which can be very helpful if your child is needing to make up credits. Students are very active, and injoy what there accomplishing. Basha isn't rated so high on a drug free school, but it's getting better.

We have been very pleased with Basha High School. Our son came from a very small K-8 private school and we have been satisfied with Basha despite its size. Teachers have been prompt to respond toemails and seem genuinly concerned about our son's progress. I am a substitute in Chandler Unified School District and have worked on all three high school campuses. I have seen more respect and better behavior from the students at Basha High.

The school overall is really good, but there aren't many extracurricular activities. My friends and i feel left out of so many things that the school does have, because it's just not us. And the things that we would like to have, just aren't reconized by the people and staff of the school. But Basha being a new school, i can except this fact. But for future students...There needs to be more activities! Help out!
