Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I'm very impressed with this school. My son is enrolled here and the staff is excellent and seem to really care about the children. The new principle seems to be well like by the parents and children. She is outside every morning waving as each kid is dropped off.

So far I've had two children attend Santa Rosa. They both have done really well. One of my children is in middle school and continues to thrive. I think the school and the teachers are great. If I have a questions or concerns I can always count that the teachers and principa will respond. Other parents should quit complaining and be more proactive in their childrens education. Maybe that way the children will do better. Get involved with the PTO. I think that a lot of parents expect teachers and schools to be miracle workers.

If you are looking for a drill Sargent for a principal or a military feel to the school then by all means come here. I've had my child here for 4 years now and this is by far the worse shape its been in. Our kids have NO fun, there is no interaction between students and principal, raising money for PTO is more important then recognizing our students hard work. There are some of the most dedicated teachers I've met at this school but their morale is slowly disappearing. My child actually asked if he can attend a new school after the Christmas holidays, really sad. My youngest calls the principal a witch and anytime her name is mentioned cowards and hides. Not a good atmosphere at all.

Oh my, what a mess! Not sure what this district is thinking. Another new principle this year and the worse one yet. Teachers were RIF'ed at the beginning of summer and new teachers were brought in. Now after two weeks of school more teachers are being transfered and classes are being merged. Just what we need, large class sizes, no specials, poor teachers and another poor leader. My kids do not enjoy going to school anymore and I do not enjoy or even want to volunteer. If you have a chance choose one of the other schools in the district. This one will take a lot of time to go back to how it used to be a few years ago.

I decided to give this school one more year. I think that was a mistake! Last year, with the inexperienced principal things were not running smoothly. This year, however, the principal that was hired is even worse!! this lady doesn't walk out of her office; my daughter thinks she is the meanest person in the school. I am very dissapointed with santa Rosa. we miss Mr. Abel!

I have my daughter attending this school. I have checked papers which she has received from her teacher that are grade, only to find errors that she did not mark and the ones she did mark were right. We received the report card in the mail at the end of the year only to read the right name in the comments followed by the wrong name in the next sentence. She was sent home with homework and I had to teach her step by step what to do! If these teachers do not what to make sure that the kids are learn than they should find another line of work. Also her teacher had the kids voting on which homework assignment they wanted. Since when do child dictate their work.

I love Santa Rosa Elementary School for the care, consistency, and dedication shown to my children by the wonderful teachers at this school. My eldest son, who will be a high school freshman this fall, entered Santa Rosa in 2003. I was hired on at this school as a Para in 2004 when my twins entered kindergarten. My twins are now in fifth grade and ready to move on to sixth grade at the jr. high. This school and it's exceptional staff have been a part of my family. I know my children are well prepared to move on to higher grades, but we will miss Santa Rosa dearly.

Santa Rosa Elementary School is AMAZING! The Principal, Mr. Abel, is incredibly approachable. I do not know of any other Principal that knows the names of most, if not all, his students and greets students, staff, and parents every morning and afternoon by running the crosswalk. Santa Rosa teachers and staff are absolutely the best! My girls wake up every morning so excited to go to school and learn. Santa Rosa Elementary has created a learning environment that is fun, effective, and full of spirit!!!

Mr. Abel sets the standards high for the teachers and students and accepts nothing less than their personal best. All of the staff members are dedicated to creating an exceptional, fun educational experience for all of the students. I am proud to say that my daughter is a Santa Rosa Scorpion and she would be the first to tell you that she has Scorpion pride!

Santa Rosa is a wonderful community of staff and teachers. The school is changing and adapting to the rapid growth out here in Maricopa. More campuses have opened and now the schools sized area where they should be. Mr. Abel, Lorraina and Edith are welcoming, helpful faces in the front office and are approachable and helpful to parents and students. The teachers work hard and are established in their routine and great to the students. We love you Santa Rosa! Thanks for the hard work.

The fact that art, music, and sports are included in the academic program is fantastic. I've taught in Southern California for 30 years and my grandchildren will certainly benefit from the arts. It is a crime that children are pushed to pass tests rather than learn how to enjoy life!

The school overall has improved. The classes are still too full. My children have attended the school since it open. They enjoy their teachers. The teacher/parent communication has also improved greatly. It will only get better with parent/teacher involvement.

This school is almost a joke! My son attended it last year and learned very little above what he already knew. The school was built for k-3 and now houses pre-6, way too many kids. No organization, no art, very small inadequate library, principal doesn't know what is going on, no science or history curriculum, pto is a joke & has no clue, & refuses parent input & help! Teachers have no control over the kids!

I was very disappointed with the experience I had when I enrolled my daughter in this school. From the beginning the school was very disorganized and non attentive to our needs. On my daughters first day of school she didn't have a teacher or room assigned to her nor did they have a desk or books prepared for her. Even though she was pre registered for 2 weeks. My biggest disappointment was when I entered the classroom and it was completley disorganized and dirty. The teacher didn't welcome us she nor did she want want to answer my questions regarding her background. I ended up pulling my daughter out of this particulary school 2 days laterbecause the teacher did not want her to use any of her wide ruled paper. When I went to withdraw her from the school no one really cared.

I think this school is just average, but it needs to beef up it's programs and what not or it will not be able to keep up with the growth and continue to make parents happy. Alot of parents are already choosing other routes for their kids eductation and that's sad. I just think they need to be more open to parents suggestions and adivse. We feel at this school they don't want to listen to what the parents have to say. I get the feeling they are upset that we have ruined their small town, but the growth will conitue to do major things for this are and hopefully the school and it's staff will be able to understand that. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt since it's a newer area and what not, but they really need to change their cirriculum and be harder on their staff.

This school has been a major disappointment. My child is not receiving an acceptable education at this school, and basically wastes 7 hours a day there. I was flat out lied to and strung along by a certain staff member regarding a 'gifted program' (which did not exist, although I was led to believe it did), and when I have spoken to him on the phone he is very short with me and acts as if I'm wasting his time. Another issue is that problems are not immediately addressed...if you have an issue, you as a parent will have to work hard to get any type of response or resolution. This school year was the first and will be the last year that my child attends this school. On a good note, my son's teacher is great and tries to do his best with the little resources he has available.

My son has been going to Santa Rosa since August. This school is nothing more than day care for working parents. The teachers are stand-offish, unorganized, unskilled, and leave alot to be desired. I am really suprised at the poor organization of all their programs and record keeping. I will not have my son continue next year in this environment

We've only been in maricopa a couple of months, and would have really liked to give the school a chance to catch up with the growth. Santa rosa elementary is a major disappointment. They seem more focused on school uniforms than academics. The administration and teaching staff are friendly, but extremely unorganized and borderline incompetent. Our daughter is in the 1st grade, and has yet to learn anything new. We feel forced to put her back in the kyrene school district next year. Bus transportation is provided to kyrene los lagos, which isn't is highly rated as her former kyrene school, but scores much higher than this school. Plus, atleast they have an art and music program.

This school has been a big disappointment. It is probably fine for most kids, but our children need accelerated learning opportunities which have not been available. Its music and art program is less than mediocre (there is none). The caliber of most of the teachers has been shockingly poor. It has therefore given none of the advantages of a new school, with all of the disadvantages. I can recommend it only in contrast to no school at all.
