In some respects I disagree with the last poster. The younger kids are in a separate building and are not exposed to the negative influences of the middle and high school students who are combined in another room. The problems with the higher grades are two-fold: The current trend of parents who don't teach their kids moral values or to respect adults and teachers (and don't back up the teachers in this respect), and the lack of classroom discipline - a common problem in most schools nowadays. Most charter schools seem to get kids who were pressured to leave their regular school due to lack of self-discipline, poor academic performance, or both. There are a few serious students in these charter schools (as in other schools) but not many. Check out the few schools that are very good, such as Liberty Traditional (many teachers send their own kids there), and some (but not all) private and parochial (Catholic, Episcopal, Lutheran, Jewish) schools.

This would be my absolute last choice of schools. It is very disorganized and inconsistent. If all you want is a government nanny and don't care about quality education, send your kids here. They get 2 meals a day, usually free, and are relatively safe, except for the occasional bully. On a positive note, most of the kids stick up for each other and are like a family. There are not enough subjects/electives to graduate early and it is difficult to graduate on time. Sometimes credits are lost and/or don't transfer to other high schools. There are the usual drugs and teen pregnancies as in any school, only all the grades are in the same 3 rooms and the younger kids are more prone to exposure to these issues.

my husband and I heard alot of not so good things about sequoia,but our little sister goes here at the highn school.We decided to give it a shot.My son is 5 years old and skipped grade k and now is doing 1st and 2nd grade work.We are very pleased with his acheivements as well as his positive attitude twards his school.He has made many friends and the other kids look out for him.I would say Iam very pleased with sequoia and Im looking foward to working with them!

This school used to be known as the 'bad school'. But ever since the beginning of this year it has turned around. Alot of the troublemakers have been kicked out. The teachers are great and the students are able to go as fast as they can. It have improved a lot.
