Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I will start by saying we are not LDS, we are non-denominational Christians and are very glad we moved our daughter from the public high school she was in. Yes, this is a right wing school, one reason we like this school. They do put high value in education, another reason. They do have more rules and higher standards, yup another reason. We knew all of this going in and it has been the best decision for our daughter (10th grade). We also have a 6 & 3 yr old and both will attend from 7th -12th. Our only regret is that our 15 yr old did not start here in 7th grade. The staff actually cares about our child and is there as a teacher and protector. Our experience was horrid with public schools, from threats of violence to slander, etc. I now do not worry when the school calls that I am going to hear that my child is at the hospital, police station or worse. Heritage is a small community and we are blessed and thankful to be a part of this community. While our daughter needed time to adjust, going from a free for all environment to an environment that is respectful, honorable, trustworthy & dedicated to excellence takes time. She has adjusted and we all won't have it any other way!!

My husband and I had to pull our kids out of this school after just a couple of months. Be aware that this is indeed a right-wing, L.D.S leaning school and they teach in this direction. If you are L.D.S. then this is probably a good choice for you because they teach directly into your wheelhouse. We are not and our children came home feeling frustrated and left out. I don't know if this teaching is a result of the school or the teachers but there is clearly a religious bend here and open-minded thinking is not an ideal they seem to encourage.

I was hesitant to have my children switch schools, but I am so glad I did. They are in 7th, 8th and 10th grade. My two Jr. High Students absolutely LOVE it. They never had any trouble at the other school, they just were tired of the negative atmosphere and the poor choices that they saw going on around them all day. Although I didn't want to put my kids "in a bubble" one of my son's explained that he didn't want to be in a bubble, he just didn't want to have vulgarity and low standards around him while he was trying to learn. So, I told them we would give Heritage a try. It is wonderful to have them come home so happy and excited to share all about how different it was from their old school. My high school student is having a positive experience as well but does miss some of the freedom's of his old school like cell phones in class, hour long lunch breaks, and long hair. As a parent the lack of those things at Heritage is a plus, not a minus! I was concerned that I would see a drop in my kids grades because they never had a lot of home work at their old schools. They do have more work but I have not heard 1 complaint from them. I am so glad we made the switch.

Heritage Academy has been a wonderful experience for our children thus far. My wife and I were recommended Heritage by a family friend because of their excellent standards. Our children both love the experience and we couldn't be more thrilled.

This school was recommended to us by our neighbors. Their children have attended and loved it. We decided to send our child there this year and we have seen an increase in our child's productivity and grades. When my husband and I sat our daughter down to discuss how she was liking the school, she couldn't stop talking about how much she enjoyed it and how she felt like she got more one-on-one time with her teacher than at her previous school. We couldn't be happier with our experience!

Our family loves the education our daughter is recieving at Heritage. We are not LDS and feel that religion is not really a part of her scholatistic education. Being a religious minority is not an issue in our home. The staff is fabulous, the rules just stringent enough and the activities monitored well by both parents and teachers. I appreciate the stress on education, community and country while letting the kids express themselves occassionally. I higghly recommend this school and encourage non-Heritage parents to visit!

As one reviewer pointed out, the majority of the students are LDS. My kids who are not LDS love their school and are not affected by being in the minority. They are very happy and secure in their school. They run a tight ship and it is a great environment.

First off, I mean no offense to anyone by what i state in this review, it is merely to state fact; if it offends you in any way, I sincerely appoligize. You may be wonering why i gave this school 2/5 stars. Well, it is a personal rating that only would apply to the minority at this school which includes myself. It is true that Heritage Academy provides an excellent education to it's students. However, there are seveal flaws in this school that can be very uninviting. ALL teachers at Heritage Academy are L.D.S. and roughly 90% of it's students are as well. I, not being L.D.S., am very uncomfortable going to this school as it is assumed that you have the same beliefs as most people there. I give a strong warning to anyone looking into this school that is not L.D.S. This, paired with the strong right wing political standpoint of the teachers makes for a very biased school. The history books are written "in christian perspective" and leave out key parts to them because of this. I don't have many characters left to finish this review and I wish I had more, so I will keep it short. If you are looking for a good education, I implore you to go to Tempe Prep, or another charter school.

Everything about the school is excellent! Three of my children have attended and received great educations. Not only this, but they thoroughly enjoyed the experience and opportunities.

I love it!!!! everything about it is excellent! teachers, classes, faculty, student programs, everything! I feel ahead of the game, more educationally advanced and prepared and ready for the future! Our nation is a big part of my learning and my friends and I find ourselves discussing political topics not only at lunch but in conversation out of school. We are comfortable in our opinions and we love to share what we have learned at Heritage. Its our own family away from home. When we see each other out of class, its like a little family reunion. Our most popular phrase is... 'Only At Heritage'. It means exactly that and we love it. Love it or Leave it!

I've been going to Heritage since 7th grade and plan to stay on through my senior year (only 2 short years away, actually). It is an absolutely wonderful school with friendly teachers that you can easily learn from, especially with the small class sizes. Their emphasis on the Founding Fathers and principles of good government are definitely things you need to know going out into the world. Truly, it is creating America's next generation of heroes.

I consider my children lucky for having such a top notch school so closeby. I've known people that have moved from other states just to have their kids attend Heritage. That says a lot!

I loved being at Heritage Academy! I was there from 7th grade till 12th. The teachers there aren't just teaching what is in the books. They are examples of what every teacher sould be like in ever school. I cant wait to send my kids there! The clean rooms to the clean campus make for a great learning environment. Heritage will be close to my heart forever!

Great teachers, staff. I feel like I have many pairs of caring eyes on my children when I leave them at school under their care. They offer an extremely valuable education, not dismissing the things most schools leave out of the curriculum in order to be politically correct. They teach history as it was. I appreciate the devoted staff and environment that Heritage provides. I have 3 children attending there and am so thankful this school is an option for us!

I attended Heritage Academy for six years and although at times it was tough and I didn't always agree with some of the rules, I loved it. I signed a contract before I began my schooling there and I was expected to keep that. Heritage teaches responsibility and also that our personal involvement in our environment is mandatory if we wish to change things. The teachers are very personable and genuinely care. Its really just like a big family over there. Any child who attends there will come out stronger and more confident in their abilities.

I agree with all the other positive feedback given by the others - good values, safe, patriotic, respectful, etc. This is what all schools should be like. We have moved to another state and miss Heritage a great deal. The teachers are there because they want to be. The students want to be there too. They are involved and enjoy learning all subjects. The sports programs were not very good, but that was the only down side.

Heritage is a good school because the kids and parents are good people. It is safe, friendly, and a positive, family atmosphere. The Spanish program is weak, but they have a good variety of electives.

I found their drama/art department to be top notch. Our children were involved in the sports program. Even though it is small it provided opportunities that they probably wouldn't have gotten elsewhere. The academic program is strong and the learning environment is wonderful. The teachers are great. I was not on the school board or PTO but but was heavily involved in the childrens activities.

The Heritage Academy offers more than most chartered schools. It has all the required classes to get into college. They also offer drama, dance, music, band, some sports, and many other electives. The students wear uniforms. They truly care about the students.
