Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I feel like the teachers have favorites and don't really care about the students. Also, some of the teachers are very mean.

I am currently a 6th grade student at frontier, and I have had a lot of bad experiences since the current principal, Mrs. Connely, arrived. The assistant principal is amazing, and always helps out with events such as the Student Council Heroes Luncheon. On the other hand, you have the principal, who I believe is very lacking in character and I think drove the good teachers away. Over 30 teachers left or retired in about 2 years. In addition, their kitchen staff is incompetent, the cheese that they were serving was about 2 months expired! And according to them, freezing it makes it not expire. Yeah, right. My fellow students and I heard them saying that not eating the vegetables is okay because they only give them out to make sure they get passed by the health inspector. The only reason that I give my school 3 stars is due to the fact that I have made some great friends, they allow us to compete in the district spelling bee and patriotic speech contest, and we have quite the packed trophy case from our sports teams. This is coming from a gifted student, who has been at the school since kindergarten, and overall, I wouldn't recommend going to this school.

Frontier Elementary is a wonderful school with caring and professional teachers. Rae Connelly is an excellent principal and is very forward think. My granddaughter started 1st grade this year and is excited about school and is progressing nicely under the direction if Ms. Pearson. Excellent school! Rita Martin Peoria, Az

This school is horrible if you are from out of state. The assistant principle is wonderful and very helpful; however, the teacher believes differently. If kids work out issues isn't that a good thing? Not in this teachers eyes. Now she is scrutinizing my child and listening to the children that are constantly in trouble. I'm over it. My son comes from a very good background. He gets good grades and is well mannered. He has never had a behavioral issue. So suddenly....my son has issues with other kids picking on him then the teacher is angry with him? This has been a horrible experience. Not to mention that the first 2 weeks of school the teachers couldn't get my son's schedule correct. I give the teachers 2 stars for the other good teachers. I suggest looking elsewhere for school.

We are the grandparents of two Frontier Elementary students and could not be more pleased with the school. The principal Rae Conelley is tuned into the needs of the school and the staff is very friendly. Any day that we can walk onto the Frontier School campus is a good day for there is magic in those halls and we are happy to be on their team. Most sincerely, Judy Ambelang

Frontier Elementary is a wonderful school with great community spirit. Rae Connely the principal is a visionary who has garnered respect from her teaching staff, parents and children. I had my daughter at an exclusive private school and paid a fortune in tuition for kindergarden. She was so stress out and miserable that I decided to search out other schools. After an extensive search we decided on Frontier Elementary our community public school. She started 1st grade and is thriving! She is excited to go to school, loves her teacher Ms. Pearson and has become excitied about learning again. I have found everyone very welcoming and we feel a real sense of community. It's a great school and if your looking for an environment where children are excited about learning this is the place. Check it out you will not be disappointed.

As a parent, I have seen Frontier decline. The administration is horrible. They don't care about their teachers and all of the great teachers left to work at another school. It used to be the best school in the district and now it is the worst!

I graduated from Frontier fairly recently after going there since kindergarten and I had a pretty positive experience. I had many close friends, caring and informed teachers, and a good educational environment. I was never bullied, but those that were had trouble dealing with it. I absolutely LOVED the advanced program set up. My only complaint is with the administration, the principal specifically. She not only talks down to students as if they were 5, but she also can't seem to relate to her students and speaks very monotone making her seem disinterested and detached. To anyone struggling to fit in, I give the same, generic advice as everyone; get involved. Over my 7th and 8th grade years, I was a part of NJHS, student council, volleyball, softball, basketball, band, and the advanced program. While it was a little hectic and chaotic, I received help from my friends and teachers. I had the absolute time of my life at Frontier and I hope you and/or your child will share some of my experiences!!!!!!!!

If I were rating the teachers or the parents or anything else, the rating would be much higher, but since I am writing this review to reflect on the TERRIBLE principal, I give this school ONE star, but only because it isn't an option to give it zero or negative stars. This woman creates a toxic environment for students and teachers. I fail to understand how, after teachers leave by droves year after year, the Administration continues to justify employing her. When I think about how the citizens' tax dollars are paying her salary it makes my blood boil, because she is awful, awful, awful. Keep your kids out of this school until the administration gets rid of her and her assistants.

I must say i found it interesting that 38 positive messages about Frontier were posted May 12-20, 2010. I find that suspicious. Our daughter seems to enjoy Frontier, however, despite her high academic abilities, she always seems to be falling behind since enrolled here. Our attention is not brought to issues with her education until parent-teacher conference or when report cards come home. There seems to be not much accountability or discipline around completing assignments and "cramming" is encourages. This may result in high test scores but the information itself is not retained. I understand 33 students to one teacher is challenging however a note home, an email or some form of communication would give us as parents the opportunity to help resolve whatever it is that is stifling our child from perform to her full potential. Our child, previously a straight A student, is now I fear being overlooked and allowed to fall through the cracks.

I was shocked to read the previous reviews of this school and principal, as I have had nothing but positive experiences since my child transferred to this school. Ms. Connelly, the principal, is an amazing leader and the eighth grade team of teachers, fantastic. She is proactive and does not tolerate bullying or negative behavior and takes charge of adverse situations quickly. My child is finally in a well-run, high standards school, and as a parent, I couldn't be happier.

My family and I moved here from another state and we are shocked to see the teacher dressed in flip flop, wrinkly tee shirts and shorts. They sure lack professionalism and think these teacher should be dressed in business attire when teaching our children not in flip flops!!!!! Now I know why so many families in AZ attend Charter schools.

The only reason why this school doesn't earn FIVE starts is the poor leadership of the administration! Most of the teachers are amazing; however, over the past couple of years with the new principal, about 30 staff members have left. It's NOT the school it was when my children attended.

I have had three children promote from Frontier Elementary and a fourth getting ready to enter 5th grade. I love Frontier Elementary because they put the needs of the children first and foremost before anything else. Whether the need be educational or personal. I have seen our Frontier community pull together to raise funds for playground equipment, school supplies, classroom necessaties, and even help families when tragedy or illness strikes. Frontier is about developing a well rounded child to turn out into the world someday and about bringing a community together so each child has a support system and an extended family to help them find future success.

The teachers are great; they are constantly acknowledging the students for 'student of the month', excelling in this or that; there is art, music and physical activity in the curriculum, and a great school nurse and staff, Principal, etc. - they all seem to really care about the students; they also safeguard the school.

I am a eighth grade student at this school and i had always hated reading. I was failing the first semester and when the my reading teacher( Mrs. Rogers) realized this she came to me and got me organized in not only reading but every subject. She had taught me to not procrastinate and i am happy to say i came from this school. Mrs Solter has also made our school a much funner education system. Not only do we have fun but we have excelled on our AIMS testing for the past three years. And i have to thank PTSO for making eighth grade graduation the best. That last parent has issues! I was on the PTSO a few years ago. We had 3 working moms on our board. There are night training meetings!PTSO is parents who are willing to lend a hand to benefit our kids. There are 2 PTSO fundraisers a year(not a month)All of the profits go back to the school. PTSO has bought swings and sand, trees, shade structures, many mobile computer labs,etc.. So if you don't want to help out with the fundraiser, how sad for you.My child is in the gifted program, and there is no need for any extra tutoring on weekends.Mr. Kwant is brilliant. Does parking make a school better? No!Walk! Frontier has a wonderful, caring staff and Ms. Solter is an incredible principal. This is my 7th year, and I feel blessed to be apart of such a great ,excelling school.I have made friends for life, and there are no cliques! We love to help!

Frontier is a great school if your child is of average intelligence. The bar is set to the lowest level learner. The office staff acts like you are intruding when visiting. Parking is a disgrace. Actually, parking is almost nonexistent. The PTSO is very cliquish (catering to the stay-at-home-parent). The school requires training before volunteering for school events or in the classroom. Training is often during the weekdays in the middle of the afternoon. Special events are also scheduled for these same hours. The general attitude is that you're a bad parent if you're not involved in the PTSO or their events. PTSO fundraisers a couple of times a month (again with the guilt). School for my child has now become a place to socialize and go to while I finish my degree. I have to supplement his learning with a tutor on the weekends and after school. Run!

If your child is fortunate enough to get Mrs. Graham as a teacher you are in for a pure delight. Mrs. Graham is an exceptional woman who truly cares for the well being and development of her students. We had to move mid year and my son took to her like no other adults he has been in contact with. He is normally not a talker, but broke out of his shell thanks in part to Mrs. Graham's attitude & charisma. I was very pleased with this school year and hope that next year will be just as fantastic. I truly appreciated seeing a teacher enjoy her job which directly affected her class.

Our children have attended this school since 2000. I have found very little to be happy about. The administration has been non-existent to date. We were hopeful with the arrival of the new principal this year that things would change. So far, we have not seen overwhelming positive change but we are willing to give her time. My family has attended Frontier for several years now and we have been nothing but pleased with the experiences our children are receiving. Their tests scores have now climbed to 'exceeding mastery' and they Love going to school every day. There are days they aren't feeling well and still beg to go. The teachers are awesome! You sense they truly like their profession and love their students. The teachers are awesome to work with. We have to mention one particular teacher, Mrs. Fischer. She is just the greatest! Our son had her as a 5th grade teacher and we just can't say enough about her enthusiasm, her positive attitude, and the way she boosted his self esteem. She also has a great website that kept us informed about everything! Frontier Elementary definitely is our recommendation for a quality education and positive learning environment.

The PTSO is a cliquish group; when some parents offer their services, it is sometimes readily dismissed or they think of a reason not to need your help. The front office staff is not welcoming or friendly (except for one secretary.) I feel as if I am intruding when visiting my child's teacher. I feel as if I may be interrogated at any minute, even while wearing the required visitor pass. However, the teachers are wonderful with the students and parents. They quickly respond to emails, phone calls and make every effort to communicate with parents. The Spalding reading program is the best I've seen. Every teacher I've met loves teaching children. The principal answers questions with a poor attitude.

Frontier staff members are some of the most caring, empathetic, compassionate, and knowledgeable educators in the state. Given the enormous size of the school, staff members do a remarkable job of educating kids, teaching them life skills, and keeping them safe. I would not hesitate to send my children to Frontier. The administration is spread thin; the principal and two assitants could use another administrator to serve as an additional instructional leader and to be more visible. It is obvious that kids come first at Frontier. Parents need to get more involved so activities like the carnival are not cancelled like it was this year. The kids suffer when parents watch from the sidelines.

I was very impressed by this school when my husband and I were thinking of purchasing a home in this school district. Even though we bought another home in another area, I really like the first impressions and previous reviews I had read about Frontier. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful and the school and school grounds were very new, clean and appealing. My kindergardener loved the playground. We did a lot of research on the different schools in the Deer Valley school district and this was one of the better ones we thought. The test scores were very good at the time we were looking.

I love the neighbrohood! I love the teachers at Frontier! They have made school a great experience. However, I do not like the administration. There is no parent participation, and the lunch room is a nightmare. If the kids get caught in a long lunch line, they are usually told to throw their lunch away and go outside to make room for the next group. I know the biggest problem is overcrowding, but if the administration would try, things could improve. I beleive the principal is just biding her time in this school.

The discipline has gotten much worse...I blame some of the coddling parents for that though. Seriously, let your kids accept responsibilty please! The band teacher is awesome! My kids love him. As I said, I have been happy with all but one teacher in seven years of school..the one teacher retired after my child had her.

If you have a choice.. do not choose here. Classrooms are busting at the seams, office staff could care less about the childrens needs. Teacher are hit and miss.. some awesome, some horrid

Staff is inadequate. There seems to be no concern for fixing problems within the school. You get a lot of lip service for free and you get what you pay for do not expect resoloution to your problems. Lots of passing the buck at this school.

We came to this school after being in a small charter school and were concerned with the size of this school. We have a first grader at this school. Despite the size, things run fairly smoothly. Phone calls are returned promptly from specialty staff. While classroom concerns are listened to, follow through with planned solutions is weak and the principal doesn't really seem interested with any possible parent concerns. The curriculum seems fairly rigid with little sway/deviation from class activities. It is definitely geared toward the average-below average student. Higher achieving students in lower grades may not be adequately challenged in the regular classroom(while there is a gifted program, kids in K-2 get very limited time there). I love the integrated nature of the curriculum... music/art/computers tie in with classroom work. Kudos to the specialty teachers.
