I think South Pointe offers students an opportunity to be successful. The school appears to have made several positive changes over the past few years and they seem to work with their students and families. They expanded their campus and offer a variety of programs and events for the community. I've heard mixed reviews on the school but it's been in South Phoenix for over 10 years so they must be doing something right.

This school is a joke..they have teachers there that act like teenagers and stoop down to their level. The principal desnt care no matter how much you tell them your kid is being bullied. You can even complain to the Group that runs the school and they don't care either. If you want a good education and a safe enviroment for your child , this is not the school for you!

I moved my child school for one reason to get her away from bad influences and thinking this school would be perfect. I enrolled her and she was there for about 3 weeks then I imidiately removed her after seeing the behavirol of staff and students. I was stung to see basically the students did what they wanted I actually witness an arguement when I enrolled her amoung students did get physical.I talked to some of the other parents looking for awnser of why this type of behavirol was not being stop, most of them said we dont know. Hopefully they find a solution to this, its just sad to think all they need is guideness

The staff and the teachers are GREAT. Since enrolling my child, they have been very supportive. Learning, self esteem, community awareness, as well as achieving a higher education just to name a few things South Pointe takes to heart.

South Pointe High School in the best charter school in Phoenix. I am a very involved parent and have worked closley with my children's teachers and facilitators since kindergarten. South Pointe by far ranks at the top. The school leader is very committed to the academic excellence of all the students that attend. A wide variety of extra activities are provided for the students.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Arizona used the Arizona Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS) to test students in reading and mathematics in grades 3 through 8 and 10, writing in grades 5, 6, 7, and 10, and in science in grades 4, 8 and 10. GreatSchools' profiles currently show AIMS mathematics, reading and writing results. 2013 AIMS grade 10 results represent on-track 10th graders for the 2013 test year. AIMS is a standards-based test, which means that it measures how well students have mastered Arizona learning standards. Students must pass the grade 10 AIMS in order to graduate. The goal is for all students to meet or exceed state standards on the test.

For high schools, AIMS results, AYP status and graduation/dropout rates are used. Schools are identified as Excelling, Highly Performing, Performing Plus, Performing, Underperforming, Failing to Meet Academic Standards or Pending.
