INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I was a student at this high school when it was a good school with Mr. Gray. he was a great principal, teacher, mentor. He liked the students and knew everyone by name. We also had a great Animal Science teacher before last year. I quit this school last year because the principal is horrible. She is mean to the students. We had a Great FFA club until our Ag Teacher quit and they hired someone who does not want to be there.

Both of my daughters transferred to AAEC-PV for their Junior & Senior years from the HS currently ranked #2 in the country by US News. AAEC's dual enrollment with PVCC allows students to graduate with many more transferable college credits than an AP or IB program - AND have a life! Completing the AGEC program at PVCC, lets AZ students transfer a block of general-education credits to AZ universities. Kids can take the exact same courses offered at ASU, U of A, or NAU as part of their HS curriculum. Some medical schools allow courses taken at PVCC where they do not give allow AP/IB coursework. Be aware you need to play the scholarship game. Filing paperwork to graduate from PVCC may eliminate eligibility for some scholarships, where NOT technically graduating with an AA can allow more scholarship - it depends on the university. The facility is safe, clean & beautiful. The staff empowers students. There is no bullying. AAEC embraces all students in a community. The program diversity that comes from the partnership between AAEC & PVCC enables every student to pursue his/her dream, whether that is medical school, a certificate in Fire Investigation, or a LINUX certification.

My school is excellent, so much more comfortable and one-on-one than the previous public school I went to. The teachers are great and I made many friends on my first week of school! I love that I can receive my Associates Degree by taking college classes and that will greatly help me in college. I also love the Veterinary Sciences classes course as I want to be a veterinarian. I could not think of a better school!

The staff really shows what is becoming a rare attitude in schools these day. The care and concern for the individual. They take the time to develop personal relationships with the students thus encouraging the students to grow and succeed.

AAEC is an amazing school. Small student body and all the students are kind and appreciative of one another. Strong emphasis on excelling academically. More like a family than school.

Excellent school with high regard for academics - they do set the bar high and it forces my son to be accountable; he is challenged further academically than he was at a previous high school. I love that he can attend college simultaneously and earn free tuition now! Not all of the teachers are what I would consider "top-notch", but then again, in what school are they? BY and large they are a great group that seem to care about the educational investment of the kids. I am most pleased, also, that there does not seem to be any bullying and social pressures just aren't much of an issue. I would recommend this school to anyone!

My school is great because it gives us so many opportunities for success by paying for our college classes, and letting us earn college credits so we get ahead of the game. It's also fantastic for people who want to be involved with animals, especially horses. The vet science and equine classes they offer are great for people who want to have careers related to those.

Seems the staff has learned how to write reviews. Almost all high schools in the area offer college classes. Although this school is improving with the new principal, it has a long, long way to go. Turn over in teachers has been incredibly high, not a bad thing. For the past two years I've seen so many students have to leave because their schedules didn't qualify them to graduate with their class even though they were told they would have enough credits. The college isn't happy with the ill prepared kids they are getting. Most are not emotionally ready and the school does nothing about this. They just push them to the college to get more money. With it being run better and firing some of the incompetent faculty and staff, let's hope it will improve with time.

I love my daughter being able to take college classes while attending high school. I also appreciate how hard the teachers and principal work to have success in high school while preparing for college

The class sizes are small, allowing the teachers to focus on the needs of the student, not just getting through the material. The staff works with the student to help them chose the best college classes that will fit their schedule as well as towards their AA.

AAEC is a wonderful school. I am glad my son decided to try this school. I have been happy with everything AAEC has done for him and other Teenagers who go to this school. My son will earn a great education from this school and so will other students.

WOW, this school is INCREDIBLE! I have two kids, a Senior & a Sophmore attending this school. I previously home schooled & had reservations about brick/ mortar schools . Happy to report, both my kids are dually enrolled in high school and college and have, in my opinion, the best school and curriculum in the area. Administration is amazing and the teachers have far exceeded my expectations. I wish I would of known about it sooner. I would recommend this school to any hard working student that has strong values and truly has a love of learning. If you are an agricultural enthusiast, be ready for an amazing opportunity that has long been lost. FFA, 4H and equine enthusiasts are in for a real treat. There are horses, a barn, and a riding arena. For others the academics are challenging and the educators are top notch. Teachers here are passionate about teaching. The building is new & the atmosphere has a college feel to it. If you have a student that loves learning & plans to attend college, this is for you! Did I mention that the college classes at PVCC are free? Only cost to you is for the books. Kudos to all the teachers, office staff and one incredible principle!

This is my sons first year and he as excelled. The teachers are very open and available to talk to, the front office is great and the best thing is the fact that my son is one of 500 vs one of 10000 like at a traditional high school. When I go to the school to check on his progress the principal already knows me and my son without having to look in a file. I look forward to seeing how my daughter will do next year.

Some of the previous comments are unfounded. All AAEC instructors meet the requirements to teach in the state of Arizona. Teachers are either Highly Qualified and or certified by the State of Arizona. The documentation is public and availble for review. It amazes my that an individual would post comments that are unfounded and call themselves a professional. All AAEC HIgh Schools are ranked in the top ten schools in the State. I currenlty have a niece and nephew attending the campus and they are in a program that allows them to go as far as they can to meet thier individual needs. Way to go, I have one of them graduating with thier Associates degree at college a week before HS graduation. Its an outstanding program and for parents its one of the best things you can do for your child.

AAEC-Paradise Valley is an excellent school. My daughter is in her second year and has become a better student as a result of the teachers and school structure. The smaller classroom, and the ability to interactive with staff is such an asset.

Everyone has all of these great reviews for this school, but I on the other hand have had tons of problems with AAEC. The teachers are great, the students are great, the administration office is TERRIBLE. They are completely unorganized. As a freshman they put my daughter in a higher grade level class and told her that she was suppose to be in it, Now she is in her senior year and they just realized she never should have been in it. The school is suppose to be a college prep school but does not prep the kids for taking the SAT or ACT. I am very unhappy with this school at this point. I regret ever making my daughter go there.

AAEC has been amazing for my son. He has struggled greatly for years with being motivated or interested in his classes. We had private testing done and he was found to be highly gifted, which none of the previous public school tests identified. His teachers at AAEC have contacted us with any concerns or helpful suggestions, and have gone out of their way to encourage him. He is very excited to have the opportunity to take college classes and finally feel challenged, rather than just having extra homework piled on him like at his previous schools. There is free tutoring offered after school which is done by the teachers, and many special activities are offered as well. The other incredible thing about AAEC is how kind and accepting the other students are. My son was bullied constantly in middle school, yet he came to this school knowing no one, and has not had one single incident of bullying. In fact I have witnessed many times the other kids going out of their way to say hi to my son and include him. The small environment has been great, and the fact that the teachers and staff know all the kids makes a huge difference. I would highly recommend this school to anyone.

As a mom, I am so grateful, that 3 of my children had the opportunity to attend AAEC-PV. The academics, staff, and teachers are the finest. The safety of my children, concern by the staff and challenging academics are so superior to the public school that my children would have attended. AAEC-PV has been an extension of my family for the past 6 years. My children are successful in all areas of their lives due to the partnership of the teachers and staff mentoring them to not only be successful students but even more importantly responsible young citizens. I hold the teachers and staff in the highest regard.

AAEC is one of the finest schools I have been associated with. Their faculty is of the highest caliber and genuinely care about the success of their students. The teachers will come in early and stay late if it means helping a student accomplish their goals. The staff and administration work hard to assist the students with all aspects of academic needs/concerns. My daughter attended AAEC for four years and recently graduated with, not only her high school diploma but also her Associate of Arts degree from Paradise Valley Community College. She begins her University career having to complete only 2 years for her Bachelors Degree and also a full tuition AIMS scholarship. My son, who will be a Sophomore has already begun attending community college and is working towards his degree. My children have had and will continue to have great academic success due to the staff/faculty and administrators of AAEC because of their commitment to students and helping them achieve their goals. I recommend this school to everyone I know.

I can not say enough good things about this school. The teachers and staff are not only qualified, they are also caring. Who could ask for more. We moved to Arizona to give my children the opportunity for an excellent education. Not a statement many would say about AZ, but AAEC has exceeded my expectations. Not only are both my sons being challenged academically, they are both very happy and love the teachers and staff as well. Thank you AAEC for caring and striving to be the best!

As parents, we want what is best for our children's education. Large public High Schools were unable to provide the learning environment our children were looking for, so we turned to AAEC Paradise Valley campus for a solution. Now with two teens graduated from the program it was without doubt, the best choice available. Small class sizes, supportive administration and engaged teachers provided the perfect learning experience. The campus is safe and the transferable college credits are a great extra benefit for those going to college. If you are looking for a public High School alternative, AAEC Paradise Valley is an excellent choice. Thank you AAEC, 5 Stars for your efforts.

Oustanding My Daughter attended AAEC all four Years. The Principal, Mr. Gray is a strong leader and was very involved on a day to day basis with the students. In addition, He and the Staff were very helpful in preparing my Daughter for College. The Teachers were motivated and really cared about the students development. AAEC is a smaller School which was a real bonus. This is a special school for students looking for this type of unique educational experience. Thank you AAEC.

So far I have 19 college credits and I am currently working towards my Associates Degree. I enjoy that all the staff are friendly and willing to help out the students and assist in any and everyway possible. The faculty are just as amazing with their ability to provide a unique learning environment. Each teacher has their own personality and often this is reflected in their outstanding teaching styles and their classrooms. Thank you AAEC for providing me with all that I need to start on my path of success!!!

I have high praise for the quality of the education at AAEC Paradise Valley. My son has attended this school for the last 2 years and has already earned 16 credits toward his Associates Degree at Paradise Valley Community College. The teachers are supportive and knowlegeable, and the principal, Mr. Gray, is always watchful of the students. It is very obvious that Mr. Gray has the best interests of the students at heart. The children are allowed a certain amount of freedom because they attend college classes. However, they also must check-in for classes in the morning and check-out in the afternoon. They are required to attend at least 4 hours of classes on the high school campus, and college classes are then selected to fit around the high school schedule. I would recommend this school to any parent. It has been an exceptional experience for my son.

We had such high hopes for this school and were terribly disappointed. School staff promised that even though there was a lot of freedom, the kids would be supervised and communication to parents would be constant. They let us down on both parts. Freshmen left campus constantly, attendance was not verified, parents were not notified when kids were missing. Teachers were changed several times during the year for different classes and grades were not kept up to date on the website. Not only were we disappointed, our child is now behind in AZ requirements due to the different standards for this school. I am sure this program can work for some students, but not for all.

This school has made a dramatic change in my daughter's life. She is taking college classes that are going towards her degree, which is exceptional. She will graduate from high school with an Associates degree in buisiness. Deciding to attend this school has been one of the best decisions I have made in her education.

My son has attended this school for 2 years and we are all happy with our decision to have him attend. The teachers and staff are caring, intelligent people that truly care about him, his grades and his mental well being. There is extra curricular activities but remember what AAEC stands for, its not a sports (b-ball, football, etc.) oriented school.

We have continuously been disappointed with this school! They do not have very many extra-curricular activities, and many of the teachers do not have enough knowledge on the subjects they are teaching. Also, if you are not into the agricultural scene, then this school traps you. i would not recommend this school!

Both of AAEC's principals were and are wonderful, and encouraging to students and parents alike. All of teachers want students to succeed. There are so many teachers on the staff who go out of their way to help the students. It is encouraged by the principals. Both of my daughters attended AAEC, and both graduated with honors from Paradise Valley Community College. I wish the opportunity to acquire college credits had been available to me when I was a teenager. I am very grateful to AAEC's founder, principals, and all who made it possible for my children to excel, and be challenged in such an encouraging environment. I hope this school will continue to be available to all students entering or in high school. I highly recommend it to all parents who want their children to succeed, and get off to a great educational start!

AAEC offers the student with direction the means to achieve their goals quicker and easier. Quicker, because if applied correctly, students can graduate with their AS degree, and easier because everywhere you turn at AAEC there is someone to help with whatever the need may be. I'm one of those parents who feels the school is not an alternative school for the student who can't make it in a public high school, but it's a wonderful foundation for the student making the effort. The teachers really care and are very well qualified. The BioScience program can't be compared to any other high school! AAEC and it's staff are the best!

We love AAEC and I too have recommended the school to friends. Principal Gray is an honest man and devoted principal, watching out for all of our cildren. The teachers demonstrate their dedication to our childrens success on a daily basis. Unfortunately there is little availability for arts, sports and other extracurricular activities. However, there is horsemanship, FFA and student governement for our children to get involved in. Parents are encouraged, but not pressured, to be involved in every ascpect. I'm so happy I found AAEC for my children. Milu Simpson
