Kingswood Elementary is a terribly ran school. From the us against them mentality of its staff to it's 'we don't have any money for books, so your child should get used to deciphering 3rd and 4th generation photocopies of lessons'. Moreover, the principal has cultivated a staff with a Department of Corrections mentality versus a 'we are here to teach you' mentality, who spend a large majority of their time managing small issues that typically work themselves out. If you have a choice in where you child goes to school, you really want to avoid this one!

I am very disappointed in Kingswood and have been for the last few years. The administration doesn't seem to be there for the kids, the teachers try to overcome such low morale but something needs to change there and its the administration. When your leader is a poor one how do you expect the kids or teachers to excel. So many staff have left or been pushed out of there as well. It hasbecome one of the saddest schools in the district when it used to be one of the best. Poor judgement on the Districts behalf to keep the administration on staff. after numerous reports of failure and disappointment have come to their attention .They have lost the great employees and chose to keep the failing staff in their place.

My grandson has really been happy since he transferred to this school. The faculty there cares so much about the children.

from my experience, kigswood is the worst school in surprise, there are a so few teachers that really care about their students in this school but , that's not enough....Don't enroll your children here, I am a parent and I have keep my son in this school for 4 years hoping that maybe the next teacher will do better, luckily this year was really good as far as the teacher but, a little too late... thank Good we are moving and my son will be out of the dysart school district. the worst in AZ this page wouldn't be enough to tell you all the problems I have had with them. sooo many....

Parent of a 6th grader, 3rd grader , and kinder. Our school experience was good. All three had daily homework and we got regular progress reports. The parents are responsible to make sure the students do the homework...not the teachers. In our home we make sure we do our part....more parents should.

This school has problems ranging from a weak principle and lazy teachers to pathetic play equipment and slim resources. I had to beg for progress reports for my 6th grader, and when I finally got one it only had 3 assignments out of 21 graded! I see the district making changes to clear out some of the worst teachers, but at this rate it will be years before they have weeded out the bad ones! Needless to say, my children will not be at Kingswood next year!

My grandson was enrolled in the 6th grade for the last 2 1/2 months of the 2007-2008 school year. From veiwing the test scores, it is little wonder why the 6th graders didn't do better. Homework was nonexistint and all I heard about was watching TV in science and playing games in Language arts. I received progress reports for half his classes. No report from the class he failed, even tho I asked to be kept informed when he was enrolled.

I have three children in Kingswood, two in fourth grade and one in kindergarten, and my children have had great success in every grade. My older ones have been there since kindergarten so I've been able to see things progress and change for the good. I've also witnessed many parents complain about everything from teachers to homework. Too much homework and the teachers being too hard on the students and it's these parents that feel their children shouldn't have so much homework and classwork that keeps all the other kids behind. Hopefully the new zoning will allow Kingswood to succeed in '08-'09 and get the ratings back up to 'highly performing'

My son's first grade teacher was great. The parking was horrible, very few parking spots available and part of the parking that was available was closed off. The district is horrible with zoning, there is a new school right behind our house and yet we have to drive our son to this one.
