Craycroft Elementary School

The curriculum is very repetitive, causing my daughter to get bored. The teacher couldn't control the class so the entire class would be punished for one or two students misbehavior. They would send my daughter out through the front doors of the school unattended to walk alone around the side of the building to line up even though the bell would be ringing in the next 30 seconds. Three times I was called by the office to ask why my daughter was not in school even though I dropped her off myself and had waited in the front until she walked through the front doors. Talk about a panic attack due to their lack of organization. If you can avoid this school I would. I have never been so worried about the safety of my child or the lack of education she was receiving.

My son went to kindergarten here. While his teacher was great, the curriculum was less than stellar. The principal is not approachable and when you do speak with him he's demeaning. The kids were left outside one morning completely unattended due to an oversight by the administration. Needless to say we no longer attend this school, though it means a 20 minute drive out of the way.

I think that overall the school has done things to improve, but there is much to be desired! I would also appreciate a little more effort in checking to make sure the kids are in class.

Craycroft Elementary has improved tremendously over the last year. The new principal and teachers have struggled all year to help and turn this school around. I don't know what the new results show specifically, but the changes I have seen have been impressive. The teacher parent interaction has been awesome. Academic programs are slowly coming around. The extracuricular activities seem to have taken a backseat to academics, however the music department has a wonderful orchestra teacher.

I have found this school to have many experienced teachers with well developed backgrounds in effective teaching. The faculty is supportive and focused on the individual needs of the children. They have an excellent reading program that raised reading scores across the board considerably. I would like to see a more facilitative science and math program. Overall, I love the staff, the extra-curricular activities provided (art, p.e., and music), and most of all, their reading program.

The quality of academic programs is very low. The school does not have the resources to handle the current student capacity and teachers are very overwhelmed. Music, art, and sports are available yet the level of parent involvment is practically none. Administration is wonderful but the teacher's can't do everything themselves. Ther is little to no parent involvement in this school hence the current progress and label of failing. Outstanding principal who has not been given the time promised to turn the school around. We were told the state would wait until this years test scores were in to determine if they would take over the school and they have made that determination way before testing had even occurred.

I think this is a very good school that is improving. I have seen a big change this year and I hope that it continues. My children and I are much happier with the way things are going now. The school is more friendly, the students are learning lots more, and the building and playground are looking better. Thank you for teaching my children.

i think the teachers should be teaching the children to read better and write better. there is to much messing around in the class rooms,some of the teachers don't keep up with the parents. and don't seam to care if the children learn or not. as far as the principal goes, there has been better principals at this school. the look and fill of this school is cold and sad. as far as dress code, the teachers need to dress better. as far as the children, let them be kids and learn to wear things that make them fill good about there selfs. no uniforms for them, let them injoy being there selfs while they are little. life is to unfair for children the way it is.

I love this school. The teachers are friendly and very helpful. But of course there is always room for improvement. I would like it if uniforms were required. It would also be nice if there was more after school activities that the younger kids could be involved in (1st graders).
