Ironwood Elementary School

I just keeps getting better and better... my kids have the BEST teachers this year who teach THEM- not to a test, not to a standard, they teach to my child!!! I cannot say enough about Ironwood. The principal could not be better- totally prefessional, yet full of integity and love! Everyone there is smiling and happt to make a difference!!!

Both of my kids go here and it is an excellent school.The staff want to be there and you can tell they are happy about it which gives the kids a great atmosphere.They are caring and they are great teachers.My kids and me and their dad fell very comfortable with this school.The staff know you by name and actually take the time to talk to you which is nice.I would reccomend this school to anyone.

Our family has been very happy with Ironwood Elementary since moving here 2 years ago. The principal is fantastic. He is always present on campus, knows ALL the kids, and takes time to talk with parents. Both of our sons have done really well with their academics and testing. I would recommend this school to anyone looking to move to the area.

We had two children in Ironwood for 10 years, and were very happy overall with their experience and teachers. We knew all three principals, and each cared about the quality of the school very much. Both my husband and I volunteered over the years at Ironwood (hundreds of hours), allowing us to see what goes on in the school from many angles. While there have been a few isolated incidents and aides in particular who haven't been great, we both feel strongly that the staff cares very much about EVERY student. The assistant principal is amazing -- she sees each child as an individual and gives them the benefit of the doubt, even if they're repeatedly in her office. The teachers are on the whole devoted, concerned about the welfare and success of their students, and very hard-working. The support staff are mostly wonderful, too.

The student to teacher ratio here is stated as 1:18. This school is way overcrowded. Most classes have 28-32 students.

My children have been attending Ironwood since 1998. I have three in this school. I have been very happy with the teachers and staff at this school. I have even been a substitute at this school and enjoyed that experience as well.

My child has attended since she started school and I over the years have become less and less happy with the staff/teachers and principle. My son will be starting school next year and they both will not be attending this school. I feel that they are harder on the children if they are Hispanic and both of my children are so this has been an on going problem and I think any parent who wants their child to be treated equal and fair as the other children would greatly consider sending them some where other than Ironwood.

Ironwood Elementary is an A+ school. The principal and vice-principal are very friendly, and truly love the kids. They show up for after school activities and love to participate. The teachers are excellent and both my children are thriving. My only concern is that they do not test eyes and ears at the beginning of the year. We did not know till December that my daughter needed glasses. Would have helped alot to know in the beginning. Overall..its a wonderful school

I really like the dynamics of this school. The administration staff is strong, and the teachers are loving. My only concern is the size of the school and the seemingly increasing concerns for children falling behind. The large size of the school increases yearly, thus providing additional challenges in behaviors as well as academic levels. It has been challenging to obtain the minimally acceptable testing for delayed learners. - and there seem to be many more each year. They do, however strive to find the right 'mix' for programs each year.

My two children have attended Ironwood Elementary for the past two years (4th and 6th grade). My children are in the special education classes. I have found the teachers to be creative in helping my children with not just their behavior, but their academic growth. As a parent I appreciate being part of the team for my child's education. I am not as familiar with the extracurricular activities. I do know that a Before and After care program is available, karate, and strings.

Ironwood Elementary is the reason we purchased our home where we did. Our daughter has attended every day of her elementary career at Ironwood, and we wouldn't want it any other way. The teachers, staff, and administration are heads and shoulders above any other! The principal knows everyone of the 850+ students by name. She treats her staff, parents and especially the students with respect and kindness and it turn receives the same. Ironwood is 'Number 1'
