Profile Completeness

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I have put 2 of my girls thru this school and currently my 2nd grader goes there. Heck.....I even went there K-6. Wonderful and caring school with a well above average principal. Ive heard people say this and that about the school but im telling you from LOTS of experience.....this school gets it done the right way.

My grandchildren go to Bayou Meto elementary and they are doing very well overall. The teachers seem to be invested in the children and the principal is a very patient man. I have never had a problem with administration people they are very helpful anytime I call. I have never had a fear of something happening as the doors are locked until time to go outside or get on the buses which is done in an orderly fashion and the Principal is always on point before the doors are unlocked. All in all I would give Bayou Meto an A+ and I hope my grandchildren will be able to go all the way thru fifth grade before going to middle school. I just want to say THANKS! from MEME BRIDGES

My daughter, who is in Kindergarten, loved this school! She came home wanting to read and write the words she learned all the time. Her teacher was fantastic. She was a no nonsense teacher but the kids loved her. The office is super friendly and will answer any questions you have. The principal is friendly, personable and is involved during school hours. You will hardly ever catch him sitting down in his office. The staff as a whole are great.

My oldest son has attended this school since Pre-K until his current grade, 4th, and my youngest son just started Kindergarten there and I would recommend it for any parent looking for a quality education provided by very good staff for their children.

I used to be a student at Bayou Meto and my kids used to go there and and we are currently working on getting a house back in the area so my kids can go back to this school. This is an awesome school to attend. It's not very big like most schools and is a great place for children. The staff at BMES are awesome as well. I think BMES deserves 5 stars!!!

Both of my children have gone through this school with my youngest having graduated from the 5th grade back in May. The school is awesome and top notch. The teachers worked with my child who was working above grade level all the way through school. Our test scores speak for themselves. The staff is great. The teachers are great, and most of all the kids are great!

This is a new up-date. This school is top notch! I work here and am proud of what this school is and does for all who enter for an education. Granted, not everyone is made happy anywhere or at anytime. There will always be those 'few'; however, I am an educator and a professional and tell all of the virtues of this school//academically and socially. Considering the socio-economic status of the zone, we produce at or above the 'Chenal' area schools. Granted, the school is in dire need of repair and updating, after all, it is 50 years old. A great school/// William Smith

I have had 2 children go through this school and a 3rd child that has been there since Kindergarten (he is now in 4th grade). I also work in the education field and this is the only elementary school I would recommend in the Pulaski County Special School District. The teachers that my children have had have been exceptional except for one. I haven't always been impressed with the administrators but 95% of the teaching staff is awesome. The test scores for Bayou Meto speak for themselves. However, test scores are not always indicative of the teachers.

I am very disappointed in this school this year. The school offered no help for our child that was a little behind in his reading grades.

Let's face it, the school sits in Pulaski County. If you do some research you will find that in Pulaski County, this is one of the better schools. With that being said, it is still in sad shape. The school needs a complete face lift and the classrooms need some attention. As for the quality of teachers? That is a hit or miss. I have meet some very nice teachers in that school that want to make a difference but I have also meet some teachers that are just there for a pay check. It appears because this school is so far out it lacks attention from the district. My question is; where is all our tax money going? It certainly is not going into our school system. There are no extra's here. There's no P.E. program / sports. They (Staff) do try to be creative with the children.

If your child has any type of learning problems you would be better off going somewhere else. My daughter has ADHD and was in a 504 program when we moved from CATO elem. Bayoumeto has refused to honor her 504 plan and the only help offered to her is resource. She came to this school two years ago on a 2nd grade reading level and is still on a 2nd grade reading level. My child has been harrassed and teased for a year and a half and I have spoke with the principal several times about this with little of nothing being done to stop the teasing. I would strongly recommend thinking it over before I placed my child here. This is our last year and I promise my baby will not attend this school. Every civil right my child has was walked all over here.

Bayou Meto Elementary School is a great school! My grandson attending this school is now in his 5th year. He has improved all of his learning skills, and he was at a 5th grade reading level in the 3rd grade! He also loves to experiment. He is very excited about this school year, and loves his teacher.

I was terribly disappointed: (1) during registration I felt the vice principal brushed off my concerns about my child being placed in kindergarten when she was already beyond the kindergarten curriculum. (2) the first day the teacher gave no orientation to parents saying rudely, 'Parents we love you but it's time to go.' (3) each morning the teacher was always in the hall on her cell phone - providing no opportunity to speak to her - while in the classroom a television played cartoons. What's more disturbing, is this is supposed to be one of the better schools.
