I felt like the teachers were overly taxed in the K. I'm not sure they were trying very hard on anything other than reading and math. I didn't see much else. My child loved the music program. I would like to see more sports for the younger kids, like soccer maybe or something for the kids to do.
Parent involvement could be higher but overall the teacher/parent relationship at this school is great. A few areas of improvement would be adding more specialized reading tutors and teachers. Academics could be kicked up a notch to compete with other state curriculums and parochial schools. Athletics does not exist, though there is a great P.E. program, I think there should be an athletic program. The addition of a band would be nice too. These are all just suggestions though. If you are looking for a safe, secure and loving environment, you will not find a better school. Most of the teachers are very cooperative and kind. My child loved attending this school.
Great school in close-nit community with much more emphasis on Reading and Math to bring up test scores. (Have implemented Accelerated Reader program) New principal, Mrs. Griffin doing an outstanding job. If you have any concerns she is very easy to talk to and understanding. Good music program, would like to see more instrumental hands-on activities. They are bringing back previous art instructor-good choice. Sports are minimal as far as K-2nd grade would like to see this change and offer at least one like basketball for the younger ones. (It is not offered until 3rd grade.) Parent involvement spiralled when previous principal was here. It is now becoming what it used to be. I would like to see principals and superintendants to monitor teacher absences much closer. Especially in K-2nd due to the fact these kids are young and their teacher is their security blanket until they get settled.
