Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I absolutely love Odyssey! This is our third year and my son has grown academically and socially. Lauren, Carlos, Rachelle and their staff are wonderful people. We as a community are kept in the loop with regards to the school's funding, charter, staff changes, school policy etc. If you're looking for a great academic school, Odyssey is it!

I can't say enough great things about Odyssey Charter Schools. We tried the schools we were zoned for, but our children just were not doing well. We decided to give Odyssey a shot after hearing some wonderful things about them from a friend. We are amazed at the one-on-one attention my kids have received from their teachers at Odyssey. We get regular calls home from teachers when our students are not doing well and we are able to log in daily to track how they are doing. Our kids actually enjoy school now and are eager to learn. The administrators and staff are top notch. We get quick responses whenever we call. The technology department at Odyssey is amazing! They helped us fix both of our computers for free when the Geek Squad at Best Buy was trying to charge us hundreds. They have also helped us for hours on the phone with any questions we have had with Moodle or any of the other course material. Great school, great staff, great teachers! Changing to Odyssey was the best decision we made for our kids.

It's unfortunate that this school does not screen their employees. I hold educators to a higher standard be it that I've worked with many educators. The staff are rude and self centered. I had a bad a experience with some staff there that make me think where do they find these people?!?!?! They are ill mannered and what could they be teaching our kids with these mannerisms. These people have so much time on their hands that they went as far as emailing a business to complain on an employee. They really need to use their time more productively. These charter schools need to screen the people they hire. Also, these poeple should not be quick to judge others on hearsay and let those who are trying to their job right do it.

My children have been attending Odyssey for 6 & 4 years respectively now and I am always amazed by the teachers and staff's dedication to the children. The entire faculty new me by name and who my child was by the second day of my older ones first year there! With all the budget cuts and going into year four of pay freezes you would think the teachers would be lacking enthusiasm but they never fail to amaze me with their innovation, dedication and hard work. When art and music had to be cut parents immediately jumped in, formed committees and brought music and art back into the classrooms within the first month of school after the cuts. The children are an amazing group of caring individuals. There is no such thing as a bully at this school and even when children act out they are guided through peaceful conflict resolution which fully involves the children involved. There is no finger pointing, just straight facts and working out ways to resolve the issue at hand. The new lunch program is really great too!. The cost is the same, offers reduced/no-cost, there is always a vegetarian and meat option, the meals are very healthful, very fresh and organic.

My son has been at Odyssey for two years and really likes it. The teachers and staff are caring and my son has received much individual attention. In addition to academics they also focus on emotional and social intelligence which to me is just as important as academics. My son has scored above average on state tests and reads above his level.

Odyssey is a very touch-feely school with low standards for academics. The school's API is low considering the school's demographics. It is more like everlasting kindergarten and does not prepare students for the real world or for higher levels of education.

This is a wonderful school. We feel so fortunate to be a part of it. The teachers are all incredibly aware and smart and the principal has unending enthusiasm for education. They teach the kids to be well-rounded, thinking individuals. Not just good test takers. In fact, they don't teach to the test AT ALL. The have an Individual Learning Plan for each student and really stay true to that mantra. Our daughter has been evaluated by her teacher during the first 6 weeks of school and then together with her teacher, we determine the best plan to move forward with her education and social and emotional development. Our daughter has never been happier and she is already reading above her grade level.

Odyssey is a wonderful school because of its brilliant administration/teachers who encourage the students to take pride in themselves to and strive for excellence; while at the same time allowing them to express their own creativity . Odyssey is a multiracial school, celebrating the uniqueness and beauty of each student's cultural/ethnic background. I believe more public schools would benefit from adopting Odyssey's stance on being racially inclusive. I also applaud all of the Odyssey parents wisdom and open- mindedness.

I have never been to a school with such a diverse racial and economic population and still see everyone being included and respected--this especially applies to the middle school. I also value the opportunity to teach children through their personal experiences and interests rather than following a book. It's a great school that works hard on teaching your child, not just a classroom. They individualize educations so kids get more out of it. They also teach with a hands on approach. Because of budget reasons they had to cut several field trips this year. That is a big part of the learning process. This would be a great help to our school.

This will be our second year at Odyseey with our daughter entering the first grade and we couldn't be happier. The new director, Lauren, is fantastic. She has a great connection to the students, parents and staff. The teachers are wonderful, especially in the primary grades and the middle school is improving greatly. The school as a whole is very diverse and the campus is huge! Stronger acedemics in the middle school is needed, as well as a bit more seperation between the primary grades and upper grades, but they seem to be changing that this year. The parent involvement is fantastic. Odyssey is doing a great job providing a well rounded education without feeling like they have to re-invent the educational wheel. We look forward to the next several years...

Odyssey has been the best choice for my child. An excellent reader but scared to death of a number, the staff at OCS has taught her how to make numbers her friend. This small school has much community and most students are very considerate of each others differences whatever they might be. Parents are generally encouraged to participate in many areas of the school and they are always welcomed into the classrooms. It has proven to be a school that is somewhere in between a traditional school and a non traditional school. We love it. -Vicki Mastro

The level of parent participation is wonderful. We,the parents, know that we have a say so and the teachers are assisting agents in the development of our children academically and emotionally. It is because their is a partnership that we feel our voice is heard and we participate in the student activities, the parents activities and those directed at assisted the continuation of the school. So, one way or another, we can and are allowed to assist the school with our talents and are embraced in doing so. The teachers are not threatened by our presence, but strongly and I do mean strongly encourage it! I just wish they would go to high school. You guys hear me? Just hoping.

This is our fifth year at OCS and each year the school gets better and better. The teaching staff is uniformly excellent. The director is warm, knowledgeable and approachable and the school has a new 6 acre campus. My children love being OCS students. It is, for them, a warm caring community of learners and they feel completely at home. I feel the school has stepped up the level of academic rigor while still hewing to its philosophy of multiple intelligences, multiage classrooms and a hands on approach to learning. The OCS philosophy encourages children to develop critical thinking skills so that learning is deep as well as wide. OCS is the rare place that combines strong academics with a joyful atmosphere. A jewel.

I am a confident advocate of Odyssey's academic program and philosophy. Teachers are interested in learning your child s unique learning style and building upon it. I have not encountered stronger, public academic opportunity than Odyssey. The school is moving to a new location in 2006 and will likely be expanding their music, art and sports programs. Currently, the administration has done the best with what they had in terms of space and children as young as Kindergarten have received PE classes and continual artistic opportunity during school. The level of Parental involvement is limited to a growing number of families that care as much about their children's school experience as their education. If you're looking to help your child become an independent thinker who embraces diversity and is committed to life long learning - look no further. Odyssey is the place for you.

My son has attended Odyssey for 6 years. I have struggled with the level of academics, however have found the social environment has made up for it and then some. He is in the middle school now and is doing wonderfully, both academically and socially. He has learned to be a leader and to use problem solving skills, as well as critical thinking skills. These are aspects of education I think are missed in regular public education. If I had to do it all over again, even with the doubts about the education level, I would put him in Odyssey again.

This is my daughter's first year at this school currenty in the 8th grade. I think that this is a very good school. It is small and organized. It is also very diverse which I like very much and safe. The parents and staff are very supportive toward the children that attend this school. As far as math goes, the school is a little bit weak in that area. They are working on it with an extended hour of math after school. I also wasn't too happy that they do not offer a foreign language class. Overall though, it is okay.
