This school truly needs work they need people that care and love kids to work there..from my own personal experience with my daughter (that is in K-grade)my daughter an I dislike the staff mostly because they think they have the right to scream at the children. They also have "favorites" and completely blow off other kids they are not fond off..the staff and teachers and even the principal have absolutely no idea what they are suppose to be doing when it comes to teaching children how to do anything!!!
My kids had been there since Kinder to 6th grade. The school is nice & clean all the time. All the staff are very friendly. Teachers are excellent!! They are always willing to help or give you advice on students academic. Parents volunteers are always welcome. There are award assemblies to encourage the kids to work hard. And also ESL classes for parents. I hope they can become a single track school soon!
The school itself is pretty nice, but some kids are often 'verbally harrasing.' I had been here for fourth grade and came back for sixth grade. Fifth grade, I had to serve in Las Vegas, NV. There aren't many extracurricular activities, but there are after school programs and Advanced Placement classes. AR reading here might not be standard. I wasn't really here much and I forgot some of the details. Sixth graders get a sixth grade party as a 'tradition' to celebrate their academical success and be graduated into the seventh grade. The students are very nice, but watch out for 'show-offs' and bullies. The library is packed with books, the computer lab is sophisticated, and the classes and playground have been remodeled. Also, there is access to Pioneer Park at the back of the school.
Too bad this school is too big, but they have a very friendly and helpful office staff. My daughter says her teacher is a very fun teacher, and She doesn't wanna come home. It seems this school is trying to educate not only their kids, but the parents too. I've seem some classes for the parents such as nutrition and English (ESL), etc. I'm not so sure if they have some extracurricular activities, but I know my daughter's teacher plays games (team sports) with his students out in the field during his lunch, so kids can learn about working together as a team, social skills, following rules, PE, etc. Too bad their API score is not so high, but I'm sure it's gonna get better. I would like to thank all the school staff for all their effort.
