Overall a pretty good experience for my graduating senior. His girlfriend does dance and drama, which it's nice that they offer. There are occasional fights and punks, just like every school. There is a lot of diversity so your child is likely to find his/her place among the crowd. It's funny that the test scores here are SO much higher than Antelope High, the fancier newer high school on the other side of Antelope.

I am a parent of a student at CHS. She is in honors courses and will begin AP courses next year. The teachers are fantastic, the campus is safe , parents are involved, there are a variety of extracurricular activities, an awesome athletics program, and some wonderful programs such as the 911 operator program amongst others. When we moved to the area, we researched and decided that Center was what we wanted for our students. We love it!

Center high is a terrible place and I wouldn't recommend this school for your children to go to. The music program sucks, the teachers gossip about other students, and about 95% of the kids are immature. I got pulled out of that schooled because I was bullied at that school. Stupid school. Don't ever let your children go there.

I am currently a Senior at Center High School (Class of 2013) and every year I seen the school get worse and worse. Freshmen year was alright, didnt know what to expect so there really was no standard. But sophmore-junior year all I saw was teachers get laid off and classes get dropped. 80% of the students there are immature, I see students get bullied every day, the teacher choose favorites and some teachers even talk about students. The administration is no good, they dont help at all. My friend was bullied and administration just said ignore it. They require 230 credits to graduate and I think 60 of them need to be elective credits but they keep dropping elective courses so you get stuck with classes you dont want . And most the electives available require $20-$40 fee for the class. Since ive been at center ive seen some of my former teachers get dropped as well as electives I wanted to take like cooking and Music today. Also all the money raised ALWAYS goes to football or cheerleading. Freshmen year we were told to bring toilet paper because the school couldnt afford it and half the time even to this day the bathrooms have no soap and the doors dont lock.

I am a former student and Center High failed me. After graduation I went to college and learned how much they hadn t prepared me for. I was lucky to have the instructors I had starting out in college they truly helped me to get caught up to the level I needed to be at.

Center high teachers pick token kids and ignore the other kids that are calling out for help a guidance. I have seen token kid s graduate center then come back as teachers and administrators just to do the same thing to the next gen.

Those of you bad mouthing the Principal Michael Jordan don't know what you are talking about. He supports his teachers like no other principal has before at this school. New teachers do not leave because of his lack of support. Unfortunately they are laid off because the state is in debt and the school doesn't have enough money to keep the newer teachers. This is an excellent high school.

The honors and AP classes my daughter has taken are well taught and fair. They are preparing her for college very well in my opinion.

I'm a former student at CHS. The best thing about it is probably the math department - they have some excellent teachers. I took all the AP classes with the exception of AP Bio and it was really easy especially the senior year. Otherwise, most of the teachers I had were great with a few exceptions. Really loved the French program, I actually still know some of what we were taught! I taught that English and Science departments were way to easy and didn't challenge students enough especially in the AP/Honors classes. Also, this I think this school doesn't provide enough college preparation/guidance when it matters the most and has some useless programs such as Advocacy classes. All in all, CHS has great school spirit, good sports programs, above average faculty but poor administration. It's too bad some of the top teachers are retiring/leaving.

Math program has been shown to be best in surrounding area, better than better funded school such as Rocklin High, Granite Bay and other high schools in Roseville county. Center could be a lot better with stable management. There have been more than 5 Principals since 2005. The English program does not challenge students as rigorously as it should (as evidence of several errors in this review). If a student takes the AP English class he or she will be fine in the end. I am a former student, class of 2009. I am disappointed in the music program, but have faith of good fortune in the future. Soccer (men's and women's teams) and Baseball teams are excellent. The core science courses are solid and provide a good foundation in the Physical, Biological, and Chemistry aspects of science.

Mike Jordon principal lacks leadership qualities to support his teachers and staff, he lets the students walk all over the teachers and the school has a hard time keeping good teachers at the school. Maybe if he stood up for his teachers he wouldn't lose so many good ones!

For all of you reading the parent and student reviews, please remember that it is your responsibility to look after the education for your student or self (if you are the student). Don't blame a school because you didn't fit it, decided to home school or blame the teachers because you flunked. I have two girls that have been students there and never had it easy because they were over achievers. Most kids that home school do it so they can run the streets while their parents are at work. It is never a good idea. If you can't fit in as a teenager, how does not dealing with YOUR problems help? The teachers are wonderful and relate to the kids at all levels, with an open door policy. Center High School isn't a free ride and the students are held accountable for their work and attitudes. There are lots of fun activities to get involved in and if you look at the student s scores you will see that they have achieved very high ratings. Your kids will excel at this school. For those looking for a free ride or an excuse to home school your kid, this isn t the place for you. If you do give them the easy out to stay away from real life, be prepared to deal with the issues that follow.

Love this school. Excellent academic status. Staff and teachers are VERY helpful. School is college-prep oriented, which is great and everyone takes an extra step into helping one another.

Center had a lot to offer when I was a student. What parents need to know is to be involved in your child's education - and much like life in general - you and your child will get out of the education and programs offered at Center HS by what you both put into it. (Effort and diligence!) Be a go-getter, going to Center has the option of getting a decent college-ready education. I went to a private university and was able to compete with classmates who attended top private high schools around the country.

This school disapointed me greatly, the reason why is because; the teachers did not help me at all [except Mrs. Sission]. Also the people there made it very hard for me to learn. I regret ever going there!! this is the reason why I am in homeschool now! =[

I have 1 child graduating this year and his 4 years at Center have been awesome. He passed the exit exam in his sophomore year and has always been happy with his teachers and happy with his education. My son was given guidance in college selection and encouraged to go to college, I didn't have this when I was in school. All of the students I've met from Center High are well adjusted, mature young adults and I believe the school staff/teachers are a huge part of their success in school and in society. I have another son starting high school next year and I wouldn't have him go to any other school.

Very motivated, intelligent and caring faculty and staff. Safe and better funded than most schools now. Aging faculty gives the school experience and patience and tolerance. A generally kind and caring student body.

I was disappointed by the academic programs. It was too easy for the student to do 'just enough to get by'.

Center High offers a variety of Honors and AP classes to challenge students. The foreign language program is very interactive. Students have the opportunity to goin clubs for Spanish or French and to participate in a yearly gala. The library was expanded several years ago to accomodate more books and more areas for group study. The overall environment is up-beat and friendly. Student Counsel puts on rallies and special intertainment at lunch.

If you have a student that is an overachiever, the school has many resources and teachers and administration who are very attentive. If you have a student who needs help, the school tends to shove those students aside and ship many off to the continuation school down the street so that they can catch up and come back later. It is very disappointing to see the students who must go to the school down the street and to see their summer school program so filled up with students who have failed their regular classes. Center High is unfortunately a great example of what is wrong with our public school system. Luckily, I could afford to put my kids in a private school, and it has made all the difference.

My daughter transferred to the Center District from the Grant School District and I cannot say enough good thing about the present school district compared to the former one. Center is by far the better district to have your child attend. I would say there are both the maximum diversity and educational opportunities at the schools, that will help each student succeed in whatever he or she wants to achieve in their lives. The teachers do not talk down to the students. Great job Center School District teachers and all employees!
