This school is wonderful the best thing that has happened for my daughter. She was in Camarillo School district for 6 yrs. Went to Monte Vista and it was a mess. Monte Vista is over crowded and does not pay attention to the children. And lets not speak about the lack of academics. I withdrew my daughter from public and it was like a NEW child. Cornerstone trully cares about their students...the teachers are wonderful and best are the morals and values they install. A great blessing!
My child has gone to ccs for 6 years and the last 2 years have seen a decline in the quality of teachers/management staff motivation and learning enthusiasm is extremely deficient) which is very sad for a Christian-based school. Classroom number to teacher ratio has increased very dissappointing for the amount you pay. It's no wonder that the high school closed. As soon as our move is arranged we wiill be taking our child out of Cornerstone. Numerous other mothers feel the same but due to logistis their children remain this year.
The classes are small and the teachers are dedicated, energetic, creative and caring. The principle is always on the lookout for the students' welfare and safety. If she sees a potential problem, she'll "nip it in the bud" as she says. I just wish the school would go through high school as it had in the past.
I have two children at Cornerstone Christian School. They both started out in the preschool program and are now in the Elementary school. It has been my experience that all staff are loving and strong in their Christian faith. My children excel in their classes and are getting a Christian foundation that they would never receive in the Public Schools. I would highly recommend this school to anyone.
CCS is a great school. My 4 children have thrived at every level, Preschool and up!
Cornerstone's elementary students have pull out classes with different certified teachers in music, Spanish, technology, and PE ever week. Small classes in middle and high school allow for individual instruction and an opportunity for interested students to participate in many extracurricular activities.
I have two girls who attend Cornerstone Christian School and couldn't be happier. My youngest is in Pre-School and I know her transition to Kindergarten will be smooth and easy for her and my second grader loves her teacher and enjoys going to school. Mrs. Brewer is a hands on teacher and knows all of the students names. She is firm but fair and any concerns are dealt with swiftly. I love this school and I know you will too.
Cornerstone Christian Schools is a special place. Smaller the other Christian Schools makes it more personable. If you want your student to be encouraged by teachers and staff this is the palce for you. Pre K - High School allows me to have the whole family in one place. I love that. Blessing on all the teachers and Staff.
We did not like Cornerstone at all. Subpar education, a very non approachable, unfriendly principal, judgemental school that questions ones' moral values and interpretation of religion, does not prevent bullying. I agree with other reviews, do not select Cornerstone.
We LOVE Cornerstone! Elementary students receive Spanish instruction twice a week along with music, PE and technology. They have many opportunities for middle and high school students including ASB, sports, community service clubs, etc. Families are friendly. Teachers are great and the principal knows every student by name.
Save your money, frustration and do not enroll at Cornerstone. Education below standards, parent involvement low, teacher quality very poor and lack of concern for the well being of the children.
I have four children at Cornerstone and all love it. We were involved with two other Christian schools previously and we loved them but Cornerstone is tops. We had a hard time getting one of our children into the school because of poor academics at her previous school but the staff worked with us and we made it. Each teacher is an individual with strengths and weaknesses but most are available daily for parents to discuss the progress of the day. Yes the standards are high and parents have to work with their students but many parents volunteer and help struggling children during the day. It's wonderful.
My daughter attended the junior high level and I was very disappointed with teacher accountability with regards to helping the child understand. I rate this school very low and would not recommend it to anyone. For the amount of money I do not feel I should also have to home-school my child for her to pass the classes. Also, the teachers and admin do not not follow up with questions and complaints. I felt that I was continuously getting the brush off.
My son attended third and fourth grade at Cornerstone. We relocated to Pennsylvania recently for his fifth grade year. My son started at an accredited, college prep Christian school here and he says the work is far too easy! Cornerstone has taken an average student and made him excel in academics. His third grade teacher was a real gem. Although my son struggled in certain areas, the bottom line is he got an excellent education at Cornerstone. The band program is very nice and the field trips are the best!(Fourth grade trip to Sacramento for California studies, Olivas Adobe, etc.) If you want a top notch education for your child with a strong Christian foundation, send them to Cornerstone!
Overall, Cornerstone is a great place to give your child a great start!
Pre school is very poor no academics in place.. Poor parent involvement
Excellent academics; (high expectations); good to excellent facilities, i.e., nice covered lunch area, good cafeteria, good gym equipment. Though my son is not currently involved in sports, there are many sports available, and I believe they will even be adding high school football this school year (05-06). There is a band program from third grade up for beginner through advanced which is wonderful. I know there is a good parent group active at this school, although I am not currently involved. My son's third grade teacher last year was super involved and very communicative! Overall, a very well balanced school academically, spirtually, emotionally and enrichment wise.
This Christian school is truly wonderful and it gives a lot of opportunities for children to find their interests as well as keep up with their academics. The student-teacher ratio is decent.
Cornerstone is a top notch private school. The teachers are very involed. I recommend this school to everyone.
Clean school with a heavy emphasis on religion in all classes. Only go to this school if you are intersested in religion. Academically this is not a particularly strong school.
