Great teachers! Principle seems to be on the side of the parent, nice guy, but don't expect to get certain things done! He has a tendency to bury his head in the sand when action needs to be taken.

My son loved Palisades. He went from 2nd-5th. He loved all of his teachers and had a great experience.

This school has a new principal, which has totally changed the atmosphere on campus for the better! He is open to new ideas and is very enthusiastic. The situation is a complete 180 since the last review was posted in 2010. The office staff are most kind and helpful, a very active PTA and OUTSTANDING teachers!

We have been here two years so far and notice there is a bigger emphasis on rewards for raising money than anything. No community projects, no special ed inclusion, no genuine interactions between principal and parents. Very cold. Closed. Our children are here because this is 'our' school (though it doesn't seem that way).

How can you not love a school overlooking the Pacific Ocean? It is a great environment for learning, offers a great after school progran in the YMCA, and the faculty are committed to children (even in the midst of all kinds of budget cuts).

Despite the challenges of diminished budgets, our school, students, teachers, staff and parents included, contiune to step up and work together to overcome and help our school flourish. We are a community and together we make a difference.

There are so many reason I couln't possibly list them all. 1. We have great Parents 98% participation in our PTA 2. Awsome Teachers our teachers have been at palasades forever... some were students here. 3. We have an Ocean View ...how can you not love that !

I have sent my three daughters to Palisades. They received an outstanding education all becoming gifted, high achieving students who have become life long learners. They love to read because of the teachers encouragement they got throughout their years at Palisades to read and enjoy reading. They are going to college, graduates and a one year graduate of Palisades, who all had stellar education at Palisades.

My second grade son joined this school mid school year and the teacher greeted him warmly with a pack of of new friends for him in tow. This school has given him all kinds of special assistance and now he is really reading. What a wonderful school!

Our child is there and we have been very happy. It's a very diverse and community oriented school, with lots of wonderful kids, families and teachers. I notice that the test scores for math are quite high relative to English. That doesn't surprise me looking at the work coming home. All math. No emphasis on writing. I have been disappointed with the creative aspects of learning. But this school has a mixed reputation and is trying to stand out. Since all us parents use test scores as a means for comparison, what choice do they have but to teach the tests. It's boring, but the system is broken . I do not blame the school. Despite the first reviewer, I see a core group of parents contributing both time and money. Our teachers have all been thoughtful and engaging, and deeply interested in teaching. I think Palisades is a wonderful school.

This school is really struggling to find itself and our 'wave' children are caught in the currents. Most adults at the school are more concerned with saving themselves, perhaps a sign of the rip currents at bay, but nonetheless, wonderful parents have abandoned ship and refuse to contribute time or means to such a disrespectful, unappreciative, non-student focussed staff. The message from the lighthouse is clear test scores, non-creative textbook usage and not making any waves is what is truly value among many of the staff who have either passed their day in the sun and need to pull up anchor or who are too scared to get past the white wash and have missed the students-first boat completely. Warning parents who want to protect studnets rights or voice needs , lifeguards ideas will be shot down on sight, after all what do you know about educating a child? Wave goodbye!

My son went to Palisades from 3rd to 5th and my daughter is now in 2nd and has been there since K. I think it is a wonderful school, all the teachers we have had have been fantastic. We came from Ole Hanson which I loved and was a bit hesitant about how Palisades was going to be, but overall I have been very pleased with the education, the involvement of the other parents, the teachers and the Principal.
