INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

My kids and I absolutely love Litel Elementary. The administration and staff are genuinely caring and put kids first. My children feel comfortable and safe. I know that when I send my kids off to school they are in good hands. There are so many activities that make school interesting and fun aside from having a rigorous academic program. They have a game room for kids at lunch time where the kids earn their way in by being respectful and responsible in the classroom and on the playground. Our PTA works so hard to provide the school with the extras that kids need. The PTA sponsored activities are incredible and there is so much opportunity for parents to get involved. What I like the most is the family atmosphere that has been created at Litel. Everyone seems to know each other and the teachers look out for all kids and not just their own class. My kids feel so comfortable going up to any staff member including the janitor because they are so friendly and caring. Their office staff is so welcoming too. I love how they all pull together to make this an awesome school. This is truly a great school that offers a strong curriculum along with many extra curricular activities.

My son is in first grade and it is late October and his teacher is still trying to "settle in" to his class. Two months into the school year and his is the only class that has not spent time in the computer lab. He does not challenge the kids and does not modify his ciriculum to meet the different academic levels of the kids. Talked to the principal and she didn't seem to care. How do we let these teachers and principals teach and lead our schools? Furthermore, API scores dropped below 900 for this past year. This is a reflection of poor leadership at Litel and not holding teachers to a high level of academic achievement.

This school was a little bellow my expectations. I was a previous student who just graduated in 2010. It was unfortunate to find out that most of the best teachers had been fired. Though this was not Litel's fault, it did reflect on the school itself. Also the principals are always changing, and that tends to bug some people. The thing about Litel is that it is a school of chance. You might get in when its grade point average is high or when it is low. I myself have experienced this. Though my class and I rose the grade point average, they didn't give the slightest bit of appreciation. I do recommend this school, but I advise the parents to carefully look at the teachers and put in a request for the next years teacher, and put in a request before the current year is over.

Yes Litel is a good school. It's the district who refuses to back and support Litel. The district has their own agenda for holding back Litel Elementary School from becoming a great school. Litel has so many supportive parents, family members, administration, teachers and staff that I have personally seen over the past 5 years. There are no sound and good reasons for why Litel hasn't been able to hold on to a Principal for more than two years. Litel has been a stepping stool for Principals and Vice Principals to advance on in their careers and supported by the district. All I can conclude is that the Chino Valley Unified School District does not have any intention of seeing to it that Gerald F. Litel Elementary School becomes a outstanding school. So all those who support Litel, keep on keeping on. In the end that is what life is all about.

Litel has a strong relationship between teachers and parents. There are events like Donuts with Dad and Muffins with Mom that gets the parents to set a little time aside to get involved with the kids educaiton.

Litel Lions Rock! Our staff and students are the best. Its a happy, pleasant, encouraging environment. My 6th grader developed a love for reading (which he didn't get from me!) and my 3rd grader is confident and positive and loves to read as well. You Rock Mrs. Beach :)

Litel Elementary has been brought to the forefront of our district by the outstanding leadership of our Principal. The amount of parent enthusiasm she has generated as a result of her hard work ethic and committment to our students has tripled since her first year! My family is beyond satisfied with all her accomplishments and we can't wait to see how much more our school can acheive! Am I a proud Litel parent? I sure am! Go Lions!! (OPA who?)

The staff at the school has bent over backwards to accomodate my children's needs. The teachers, principal, vice principal and staff are what made Litel Elementary become one of the top schools in California. I am very proud to say that my children attend Litel ElementaryT

I always knew Litel was an outstanding neighborhood school. Finally with an outstanding leader, we can proudly say that Litel is one of the greatest schools in the district and in the county. We went from 870 to 930! An outstanding principal led Litel to greatness! Thank you, Dr. Park.

I love our new principal, Dr. Parks. In a year, you should see what has been done at Litel. She has great enthusiasm, is focused on raising the bar for all students, and loves our kids. You should see the state testing results. They are off the roof! Go Litel!

This school is a perfect example of the lunatics running the asylum. Sadly, the principals have no power here, and the teachers run roughshod over any principal's, or district's wishes. Teachers that perform poorly are undisciplined, and good teachers are run out of the school due to lack of tenure. The school has been through several principals over the last 7 years, and they lack the power over the teachers to ensure high academic standards. Several teachers simply "run through" assignments without actually teaching the students, leaving the students wholly unprepared for junior high and high school.

The school is just one the worst schools that I've ever had to deal with. My son's grades had been slipping for a while but the teacher didn't even mention it once. We were never informed of our child's progress. Numerous emails had been sent with no response. No returned phone calls. The school treats parents who care as a nuisance and their way of reacting is to ignore the problem rather than deal with it. I'm happy that my son will not be going back to this school next year.

I can see the new school principal, Dr. Park really goes out of all way to make a difference at the school. As a kindergarten parent, I'm blessed to have Ms. Miller as his teacher. She is great!

This school has a lot of parent involvement, high SES, and bright students. However, much of the teaching, based on my child's experience, is mediocre. My child receives a great deal of work with copyright dates from 1992; work from 1992 cannot be meeting 2008 standards. It doesn't seem like the principal knows what's going on in classrooms. He's a very nice man, but it seems like the teachers run the shcool, not him. The district recently adopted new social studies and science curriculums, but my child is receiving copied items from days gone by. Litel is our neighborhood school, but I find myself wishing it was not. With demographics like we have our students should be scoring much higher on state tests.

I feel this school does strive to give quality education. However, I have found some teachers using screaming more than respect to get the class quite. I also feel that principal is not respected by many of the children. He has not done a good job of explaining to the students why some things were changed, not that change is always bad. I feel many of the changes have been positive, but the children can not understand it with out an explanation.

Litel is a place where our children can feel safe and secure in the knowledge that not only are they getting the most dedicated, involved and caring teachers in the district, but they are getting a level of education that is not always seen in public system. The students receive support from not only the faculity but from the administravtive support as well. Parent, teacher and student involvement is unsurpassed and is evident in our school's API score as it continues to grow each year.

We're going to be new this year after transfering from another school. We met with the VP and they asked us to attend Open House. The VP was very warm, was focused on the kids, and was given two thumbs up by two friends of our who are very active in the school. So, we'll see.
