My two children attend Egling Middle School. We have been very happy with their school experiences. My children have been part of the band and sports programs at the school. There teachers have been top-notch and the principal, Ms. Johnston, handles discipline in an extemely effective manner. I would highly recommend Egling Middle School. My children are both very successful students with very dedicated parents.

I used to go to this school and for me it was a nightmare. I was bullied, teased, and tormented every day I went to school. In 5th grade, I was completely ignored by my teacher, and thanks to her, I have to take remedial math in college just to catch up on what she didn't take the time to teach. I am glad I got out of the Colusa School District, because if I hadn't, I'd have no future.

I have been very pleased with the education that my child has received so far at EMS. His teachers are outstanding and the program that he has been presented as a 4th grader in a combination 4th/5th grade classroom is superb. Parents need to realize that they need to take an active role in their children's educations. Parents need to be involved in the school and volunteer to help the school staff. I see a lot of positive things taking place at this school.

My son started EMS last year, I previously researched the school and was not impressed but tried to remain positive. Unfortunately, my concerns were quickly validated. What I have found to be true is the following: The students are disrespectful and clickish, many are very anxious to persue gang life and are certainly not worried about consequences for their bad behavior (because there aren't any). What does '0' tolerance mean to EMS? The after school program is a waste of grant money, in the proper hands it had great potential. There are bad teachers in every school, EMS seems to have more than most. The standards for teachers, students, after school activities even the lunch menu all seem sub-standard. It has been an impossible transition for my son and devastating for the whole family. EMS has little to offer in comparison to other districts. Disappointed doesn't adaquatly describe my experience.

My son had a very bad experience with his teacher here. It got so bad we had to pull him out of the school and home school him. In my opinion teachers should not bring there personal life in the classroom. I feel that Colusa School district in a whole rates very low not only state wide but nation wide also

I am a retired elementary school teacher and substitute at this school. From my experience of substituting in surrounding city/county districts, (which include high schools), Egling has my highest regard in not only its educational practices, but in its strong discipline of character building and community support. Teachers and Staff are professional and provide a safe and positive environment that is conducive to learning. The academic programs go beyond the classroom walls and into the reality of life. I recommend this school and community as a great place to live and learn.

I am very happy with this school. My daughter is very happy, and learning . there is music, and band offered, and theater starting soon. For a small town, we are lucky to have such a school.

I was dissappointed with the leadership at Egling Middle school and shared teaching arrangements showed poor consistency between teachers.
