ADVANCED

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

Our grand daughter attends first grade at Literacy First Charter School and we are thrilled at her progress. Our grand daughter is a ballet student and her teacher has taken the time to attend her performances. This teacher has shown real commitment to her students. I would recommend Literacy First Charter School to any parent.

This is our second year and we love our school! Great communication between the parents and staff. Lots of opportunities for parents to come and be apart of their child's day. Overall we couldn't have picked a better school for our daughter's education!! Very pleased and always recommending!!

Literacy First teachers care for you child even while expecting academic excellence for all students. They have a wonderful extended year/day schedule that allows for lots of breaks in between the rigorous academics as well as special events. They use the latest in teaching techniques including, music, movement, memorization, activities, special projects and more. I highly recommend the elementary school for a solid character based education. They require all parents to volunteer 40 hours per year which enables the school to do more with less money.

LFCS is an amazing school. The teachers and staff really care about the students and want them to succeed. They follow a "learn through experience" philosophy, and in kindergarten my son learned so many things without realizing he was even learning. He was having so much fun! We are blessed that our son got a spot in this school, and I am thankful that he is getting such a wonderful education.

We have been a part of LFCS for three years now, and beyond words that can express, been completely in awe of our school. Staff, teachers, principal, vice principal, all support staff have always put the kids first and paid attention to details that prepare our kids for the world outside. The teachers are the best in our nation!

Wow, really? Great staff? I have notice how rude and negative some have been towards the children. Yes, even yelling. When you complain to the office nothing gets done and it always ends up being your childs fault. I guess that teaches our kids good self- estem.

I love this school for several reasons. The teachers genuinely care about our kids and help them to succeed. If a child does need extra help, they get it through on campus tutoring or one on one with the teacher. The class sizes are small with only 20 kids per class in the Primary Academy and 25 kids per class in the Junior Academy. Parent involvement is not only appreciated, but encouraged.

Literacy First Charter School gives all students the opportunity to receive the highest level of education without the cost of sending your student to a high end private school. By 8th grade graduation most Literacy students exhibit speaking and presentation skills at a level I see in my high end marketing and technical sales position. Literacy staff care about their students and give their absolute best to ensure each student is more than ready for the next level. There is a reason for the limited enrollment space available every year.

Literacy First Charter School is a wonderful learning environment for kids! Education is highly valued here, as well as a sense of patriotism and character. Mr. Stinson is just one of the very dedicated teaching staff that challenges the students to love learning.

Literacy is hands down the best school I've found, and I've even researched private schools. I'm not sure if it's the size of the school or simply the amazing teachers and staff, but everyone there knows all the kids by name. It is such a wonderful feeling to know that your child isn't simply a number and another face in the crowd. I love knowing that my children are seen, known, respected and cared for when their not at home with me. In addition to the amazing environment, the school thrives academically. Look at their test scores! Plus eveything they do is evidence based. I can't express how gratful I am to all the wonderful teachers and staff that teach and care for my little ones day in and day out. Literacy First is truly one of the reasons we've remained in California this long, and if we do move I'll be extremely sad to leave such an amazing school.

Literacy has great class sizes and teachers that really enjoy their jobs, as well as a lot of parent involvement. All of this combined gives my daughter a quality education that I am so very thankful for.

This school is amazing! I'm in the sixth grade and I used to have problems in language arts but now I'm getting really close to advanced! The teachers here know what to do and always find ways for us to learn in a way we can! If your looking for a school choose LFCS! A safe and intelligant school to be in! :D

I curently have 2 students attending LFCS and my oldest child matriculated from 8th grade last year and went on to public HS. I have been extremely pleased and impressed with the school. LFCS, Inc. now has 3 schools, my children are at the Junior Academy. I find the teachers to be exceptional; they are caring, passionate and find creative ways to stimulate learning. The principal at the Junior Academy (JA) site is fantastic; he knows the kids by name and makes parents feel welcome. My kids have attended private church school for most of their life, I did a lot of research in regards to different public school options before enrolling them at Literacy First and I feel the school has met and exceeded my expectations. Literacy First keeps up with research and introduces evidence-based practice.

My son started the Cross Fit program this year (7th grade) that LFCS implemented and he and I absolutely love it. At back to school night the coaches explained why they chose this program over the conventional PE program (vollyball, tennis, etc.) that most schools use and it makes alot of sense. It requires ALL students to be accountable for their fitness as it is an individual program. They even encourage the parents to join them in the workout! Thanks for researching and implementing a great program!

This is a nice, small school community where every child is known. Great extra-curricula activities. My child attended one year and had a great time. We were disappointed in the low academics and how how behavoir problems were handled. The principal has made condesending remarks toward parents at events and could have attended more eduational classroom events the kids worked so hard for.

My two oldest children have attended this school for the past 2 years. I am so pleased with the results of the schools methods of teaching. Never have I met teachers more dedicated and excited about teaching my children. I highly recommend this school for all types of children. I also have appreciated the dedication the school has to the encouragement of good character and patroitism. So many long term positive effects can come from this focus on good behavior and honoring attitudes.

I LOVE this school! I am heart broken we are moving out of state. This school believes in the importance of educating the children and they do so well. I truly belive as does this school that parental involvement is the key to any childs success in education. I only wish we could continue to grow with this terrific school!! My heartfelt thanks to a truly wonderful principal and teacher staff that genuinely cares about our children. We will miss you!!

The students have much individual attention. Reading at or above grade level is stressed and worked on intensely. Reading is considered the #1 priority because success in all subjects depends on the ability to read well. The teachers are caring and consiencious. They go out of their way to make sure that each student succeeds academically. This is a K-8 school with a waiting list to attend. I highly recommend this school. Students will be well prepared to take the toughest academic courses when they enter high school.
