Best public school even comparable to those private schools without the high tuition costs. Look at the great test scores of the students of this school and it just proves that you do not have to pay such high tuition costs to achieve the same results. We made the mistake of sending our child to a high cost private school when one could have achieved the same or even better education at a fraction of the cost. El Segundo is a beautiful and quiet community and we are truly fortunate to have found such a wonderful hidden gem.

The only thing I am concerned about, generally speaking is bullying. Not the obvious type. But the undertones that exist within different groups of the student body. While most would deny, It is not okay for teachers to let students make fun of others. And turn the other cheek. And it is not okay for teachers to say inappropriate things to the kids. This is still a learning environment and they learn what they see. Just because it is a small community school doesn't mean, it doesn't have its own issues.

Our son is starting his second year and he really likes the school and students. Teachers are great and accessible via email. The Principal is a very nice man and the community is great to live in. The campus is beautiful and clean.

Love this school, great classes and for the most part great teachers. Not the best school when it comes to athletics and some of the students are a lil bit stuck up.

I absolutely LOVED this school, I'm so glad I had to move to the horrible school I go to now. I wish I could have graduated from El Segundo High. The staff was and i'm sure it still is amazing but the students are a little stuck up, but that's just the case for teenagers all around.

We are finishing up our first year at ESHS; what a great expereince. We feel that our daughter is gettiing a great education and the campus is just beautiful. The teachers are great and there is so much parent involement. The just finished the new football stadium and coming along with the remodleing of the theater. The commuication is great and each student knows what they need to do if they want to get into a 4 year university. We are very happy with the school and look forward to the next few years here. Go Eagles!!

I attended a prestigious, private school before coming to ESHS, and can confirm that my teachers at ESHS are all at least as good as (and in some cases, better) than the teachers at my former private school. There is diversity in the various student's politics, which is also interesting to see.

This school just amazing.. the open campus policy combined with the focused trustworthy staff really creates a perfect learning environment. I was an average student at that school and now I'm just about to succeed my doctorates in engineering. Thank you ESHS!!!

My mom graduated ESHS, I graduated ESHS, and my daughter will graduate ESHS. Great school, small town where parents, community, and corporate involvment are in all of the schools in our district. Kids are well educated by credential teachers. Vast program of estracurricular acitvities, something for everyone.

El Segundo High is a wonderful full. Parents are always involved, the class are challenging and my daughter who has 1 year left absolutely love it. Could not ask for a better high school, from a scale of 1 to 10, I give it a 10.

I think ESHS is one of the great schools in the area. There are so many veteran teachers! The school is small, which makes the place more like a big family. I rated the extra-curric activities less than 5 only because the small size precludes some things the larger schools have. The outgoing principal was simply awesome. The new one (as of 7/05) was an assistant under the old, hence a rating of 4 for presumed continuity and consistency. I couldn't be happier that my kids are there.

Class size is relatively small and almost all teachers are very qualified. The administration is very involved in the school and is easily accessable for students and teachers. The small size of the school has caused a reduction in the variety of classes available, specifically extra curriculars, however the academic courses available are college prep and give the students many opportunities for higher education.

About the tests


In 2012-2013 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

The different student groups are identified by the California Department of Education; if there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.
