Our daughter is wrapping up her first grade year at FCS. We love it. The teachers are wonderful! They are very nurturing while providing a strong curriculum of learning mixed with fun. The best part about it is that she is learning in a good Christian environment.
This school has sunk to an all new low. We withdrew our child after three years of ongoing problems with teachers, the administration and our son being severely buliied by two children in his class. One came after my child with a pair of scissors while the other the son of ne of the teachers no less verbally harrassed our child to the point that he did not want to go to school. We made numerouse attempts to communicate and correct these problems. Even compling with the administration with having our son tested for an LD. When we finally decided to leave we respectfully requested a refund for the tuition we had paid in advance but had not yet received the services. Instead of refunding the 1 months tuition and childcare we received a letter thanking us for our "Donation to their annual fund" I am happy to report that our child is now in a safe nurturing atmosphere, but I strongly caution anyone who is considering Foothill Christian to think twice - This school is not run on Christian principles.
My daughter started the 6th grade a few weeks ago and we are extremely happy with this school. The teachers along with the principle are awesome. Just spend some time there and you will agree. See it for yourself. We came from BUSD and we are happy with the move.
The school has rapidly declined in the last three years. I am very DISAPPOINTED in the lack of education my children have received.
Our children are receiving an excellent education at Foothill. The academic dimensions are awesome, no doubt about it. But more importantly, they have had wonderful opportunities to grow in their faith and serve God by serving others. It's wonderful to see how my kids are experiencing and living lives of signficance.
This school is making a huge difference in the life of my daughter. She loves her teachers and they absolutely love her. The academics are excellent, but it's also all of the other dimensions of life and learning that are helping her blossom. She's getting a fantastic education with Christian purpose.
FCS is an amazing school with a world class faculty. All you need to do is visit the campus and spend some time with the teachers and you will see how dedicated they to your children's academic and spiritual success. Amazing place!
The teachers do have credentials. They do have Bachelor's degrees and some have Masters degrees. They may not all be California Credentials therefore they are not on the California Public School Website. Credentials from other states are often more difficult to acquire.
Foothill Christian is an incredible school. My older children attended years ago and now my younger ones attend. We have been blessed with some amazing teachers who have touched our lives in many ways. We have made some great friends that share values that are very important to us. Academically my children excel. FCS has touched many aspects of our lives! We couldn't ask for more. We love FCS!!!
Private school teachers are not required to have credentials. It is a choice of the school if they would like them to have one or not. As long as they their degree.
A quick review of the Board of Education website reveals that 5 of the teachers do not have their teaching credentials. Sad to say that our child s teacher is one of them. We were appalled to find out that our child was only receiving two days of math lessons on a regular basis because we didn t have time was the excuse given by the teacher. It s sad to see that individuals are posting supposed facts without doing the proper research. Also, the administrator asks that teachers of students that attend the school as well as other teachers post excellent reviews on this website. In agreement with other posts, negative aspects of the school are quickly covered up and kept from the parents. It's never a good thing when an administrator asks teachers to lie to keep school ratings up.
The school is credentialed, the teachers are not. Most do not have their teaching credential. Staff keeps changing, the morale seems low. This is our last year....I am very disappointed in the many poor administrative decisions.
Worth Every Penny! I have no regrets having put my children through this school! It was definitely a sacrifice, but well worth it! It disturbs me greatly to see the negative, false comments posted here. Fact: Foothill's teachers are credentialed, and the school has dual accreditation through WASC and ACSI. Fact: The administration is Amazing! Fact: A balanced eduacation is the priority. Fact: Foothill students go on to local high schools and graduate at the top of their classes! As parents, we have an awesome responsibility to set our children up for success in life. This place was consistent with our values, and my kids are thriving! What more could I ask for?!!! Thanks Foothill! Go check that place out for yourself!
I have two children at Foothill (5th grader and a Kinder) and I can't say enough good things about our experience at Foothill. We are surrounded by teachers and staff who truly care about their students. The sense of family is heartfelt. I believe we are blessed to have the opportunity to allow our children to get a superior education in a wonderful Christian environment. It is a win win situation.
We are extremely pleased with our daughter's education at Foothill. Any person who is seriously exploring private Christian education for their child, needs to come and see this school for themselves. Visit the classrooms and meet the teachers. It's the best investment we ever made.
This school has become awful over the last few years. The administration tells half-truths to incoming applicants. Most of the teachers do not have valid California teaching credentials. You can check your child's teacher at the california department of education web site. It is public information. There are reasons (other than the economy) that have caused the attendance to drop almost in half since my child started kindergarten at FCS. FCS Administrators do a bad job and have made terrible descisions regarding the school's direction (some are mentioned in earlier posts). Shame on the FCS administarators... my child will be moving from FCS for jr. high school. We've had enough.
I thought we were the only parents who thought that we were wasting money on a school that seems to revolve around the sense of entitlement. We wish more parents were honest about private schools. They are not all they are cracked up to be, especially Foothill. It is apparent that there are others who think this based on some of the prior reviews. It's almost like the parents are blind to what is going on, which is simply poor education and frivolous parents.
We have a Kindergartner and 7th grader at FCS. We are so pleased with our decision to remain at this school because our children are excelling so much, spiritually and academically. We feel that their teachers go above and beyond.
Wow, I have to say that FCS is not worth the money. My child has learned so little this year, I believe that it has done more harm then good. You can not have educators who are not credentialed. I am also disgusted with the politics of who is who and what they have...It's nothing but smoke and mirrors and the kids are out of control and disrespectful. The school has become a let down over the past several years and I am not impressed with the staff or the quality of teaching. Don't be fooled by the Godly approach...you will not be happy with anything but the smaller amount of children who attend. I would rather have my child at public school were state standards are being met. The tuition is high and the school can't even get our children the appropriate up to date curriculum. Don't waste your money.
We have a Kindergartner at FCS, and I truly can't say enough good things. We live in La Verne which has an exceptional school district. However, we decided to take a look at Christian private schools. When we visited the FCS we knew without question that it was the right fit for our family. We couldn't be happier with our decision because our son is thriving, both academically and spiritually. Academically, there is no question that the curriculum is superior to that of BUSD. The biggest difference is the built in enrichment programs, such as the music classes, computer time, science and library services. FCS places a lot of emphasis on character development, and does it through positive reinforcement. The administration is very hands on, easily accessible to me as a parent, and I love that. FCS is exactly what they claim to be, 'Decidedly Academic, and Distinctively Christian.'
