I moved here last november and signed my daughter in 3rd grade, we came from Holloman Elementary school, where the levels are really higher than any school in California, but not for that, I will say the school is bad in any way. They do have music class, the secretaries are really nice and always try to help everyone and answer the phones to any questions, even outside the school information, they always try to help. They do not have a lot of money for extra day trips but they always help the kids as best as possible. There are 3 bads things I could say about the school: 1) they do not have nurse in camp, but the secretaries manage everything as the best, 2) there is no Gift and talented program and last but most important lack of parent involvent. The school always call and send emails for any comunication with the parents. The teachers are nice and try to do their best for our children.

I have a child that has been attending this school for over 4 years. I am very diappointed with the extracurricular activities; there is none. I assumed over time this school would grow and offer more. Not yet. I now have a second child that is in k. I love his teacher, as he does too. However my 4th grader does not like this school. He accually would rather go to a privite school where it is more challenging and has more to offer in sports and music.

This is the first year my daughter has attended this school. I'm extremely disappointed that it has no music, art or instrumental program especially for the older grades. I'm happy with my child's teacher however the communication b/t the school & parents is virtually nonexistant. Whenever you ask a question, it seems like nobody knows the answer & you end up having to talk to the district office to finally get the answer for even a routine question.

I have two children that are new to this school and since day one they have been bullied. the worst part about it is that when a teacher sees it they just say stop and walk away calmly. The principal just say I will deal with it later. for the last five months nothings changing and my kids hate this school. its a shame that a grown man can not handle children or everyday problems.

The students have well-qualified teachers, especially, the veteran teachers. The only critique would be that there is not a music/instrumental program which I believe would truly benefit the kids at Helendale. Parents are very supportive and financially ready and willing to provide the resources needed to have a great music program which the school lacks.

I think that this school has a great staff. The parents are supportive.

My son has attended this school for three years and has been blessed with wonderful teachers who care about him and his well being. However, the principle tends to be overbearing in his dicipline by choosing petty issues to complain about to the parents. I feel he makes the school less effective in the children's education and self esteem.

The quality of academics is great. The Availability of music, arts and other extracurricular activities is almost non-existent. The level of parent involvement is high but not very organized well at all at the school. More could be done using this resorce.
