Hickman Charter is a great asset to the community! They have a wide variety of curriculum and classes for all needs of any student. The staff is supportive and they offer a wide variety of clubs to enrich their students learning. Never mind the short country drive, the campus is totally worth it!

As a student who has been at HCS for almost 4 years and in traditional public schools for 6 years (including HS) and graduating in 2007 from Hickman, Hickman Charter is one of the best charters and even public schools in California hands down. I started in a traditional setting and for almost all my time there before HCS the public school was of nothing but overworked staff, poor quality teaching environments, and an inevitable amount of political cliques within the school. My state standard tests were below basic and obviously this 'school' wasn't working out. We joined HCS and it was like Night and Day. The teachers were personable with both students and parents. The large amount of resources and campus classes were high quality and of a wide variety. Since then my state tests come back as advanced and proficient.

My youngest child is about to graduate from Hickman Charter School. Our experience there has been superb. My girls took advantage of the excellent on-site classes and greatly improved their abilities in writing and science. The Science Olympiad program was a real highlight for our family! The staff are helpful and warm. Hickman Charter is like one very large family! We will miss it very much!

After searching for the right Charter school for my family, I found one. The support, the staff, and the familys, have all made our transition from public school to homeschooling easier than I expected. I have made some wonderful friends and my kids love it. A decision I will never regret making. So many choices with curriculum, extra activities, field trips, and more.

Hickman Charter School is the best school. I have been with Hickman from the very start and I cannot say enough good things about the school. All the teachers are fabulous (and of course the director is fabulous as well). All of my children have had a wonderful experience attending there. I would highly recommend Hickman Charter.

I graduated from Hickman Charter School in 2005 and I consider my years there some of the best of my life. People may say that homeschoolers are 'socially inept' and have no friends, or that they couldn't possibly learn from their parents. But these claims are terribly false - Hickman Charter provides a safe and uturing environment where children grow in their learning and make new friends. I have since gone on to public high scool and let me tell you - I had NO problems adjusting. I took classes onsite at HCS which prepared me for the fast paced days of public school. I found that not only did I find that I fit in well but I also found that the even my advanced classes did not challenge me at all. HCS is the best resource of homeschooling families in California, hands down.

My daughter sailed through high school due to the incredible preperation she was given at Hickman. And now, as my son approaches high school age, he is also being given the well-rounded equipping that he needs for success. What has Hickman offered my children? Excellent classes, stellar music programs, expert guidance from credentialed Education Coordinators, living history days, outstanding field trip offerings, CA standards based curriculum, and many supplemental tools to extend learning beyond the textbooks. What sets Hickman apart? I think that as one of CA oldest charter schools 12 years old the school staff are veterans in customizing the education to challenge children to go to the next level. In a single word, the bar has been raised to excellence.

Almost 10 years ago Hickman Charter School took us into their 'family'. We were refugees from the failed California state school institution and were looking for an alternative. Our experience at Hickman has been outstanding. The music and choir/drama programs are the best in the central valley, as evidenced by the performance of the graduates. We have also been impressed with the science and math classes, and not because of the perennial medalists at the science olympiads. I say 'we' because my wife and I have sat through each of these classes with our children, as have all Hickman parents. While the facilities and staff have been excellent, the cost per child of this school is less that half of the tradition public school. The state should be encouraging this type of school. At Hickman Charter School, it really is about the children and their families.
