Julian Youth Academy

My son has been at JYA for 4 Months, I have already seen so much growth in him. He is proudly making the shift from boy to young man. The staff works well amongst our divorced family, and guides us with love and devotion to the success of our son. This was the most difficult decision I had ever made sending him to a boarding school, but I have no regrets. He is happy, and he expresses that every week in his letters home. His grades are good, his overall health is great. He eats, exercises, regularly. He has respect for each staff member and shares with us good times. In answer to your question, yes absolutely there is a board of directors and also a parent advisory committee. Our experience with Julian Youth Academy is one where our daughter gained self esteem, self confidence, leadership skills, she finished her education with all A s, and she will carry with her wonderful memories of the girls and staff and also will carry into adulthood lifelong skills. I am a parent of a child who is currently in the program. My daughter was in danger of becoming pregnant or addicted to alcohol when we sent her there. In a few short months she is learning to love herself and live by rules. The staff is extremly dedicated and loving and allows the girls to grow at their own level. Education is not a priority but I was told that when my daughter went in. It is a wonderful place for a troubled teen to grow up.

What i loved about this program is that after years of counseling and being diagnosed, i finally got to a place where they didnt do that. The team at JYA are more like life coaches to teach a more positive path in life thats realistic to apply. Of course this was a hard program to complete but i'm nothing but better for it.

I have had the best experience with this program.. In fact it saved my life physically, emotionally, and spiritually. The kids there have a choice in everything they do but just like in real life, there are consequences. This is a great place for healing and growth. All the staff care about the well being and inner contentment of these girls more then you'll ever know.

After seeing a high level of the inner workings of JYA I have found that they are not trained enough for the emotional, physical and emotional needs of young girls who are taken from thier parents. There are not enough staff to be able to make personal connections and thier lack of retention of staff proves that even they don't agree with the way the program runs. Putting a child without a choice to leave in that situation can be extreamly harmful to their well being.

At JYA all they really care about is money. They don't really care about the kids - and the education, well you could get a better education any where.
