Steve Luther School is no longer the great school it used to be under Ms. Beatty s leadership. The change of principal and the influx of students from other schools in the district after the shut-down of two district schools have significantly impacted the quality of education at Luther. After the change, my kids felt they were no longer academically challenged and the material being taught in class was too simplistic and repetitive. I tried to approach the principal, but she was not open-minded or ready for any suggestions. We switched our kids to another school this school year and are very happy that we did that. The recent OC elementary school ranking by OC Register puts Luther at 350 out of 379 schools for academics - the bottom 10 percentile. It is sad to watch the deterioration of such a great school.
GREAT school. Good teachers good staff GREAT new principal. best thing we did for our son was switching to this school. I have no doubt that he will get a good education here and that his self esteem will be intact.
We did the research about the school before picking the school. School has great teachers and helpful staff members.I am very happy that ny kids like the school.
My child is now going on to junior high but we loved it at Luther and I feel she is well prepared for junior high.
Steve Luther is a great school ever after. Good teachers, good curriculum, very safe and so on. My kids really enjoy this school.
Steve Luther School is a wonderful place for all students. I am grieved that it may be closed because of the California fiscal crisis and declining enrollment. Perhaps California should become a place that young families can afford to live and raise a family!
I switched my kids from another school to luther, and my kids and i are extremly happy with luther!
I have a 4th grader with a learning disability who needs a lot of help keeping up with his work. The teacher and principal all work together as a team to come up with suggestions to help us out. We were even offered a math textbook to keep at home so he could practice with a tutor. I paid for the tutor, but the textbook helped him get a head start before his class covered the material. I would certainly recommend this school to other parents out there looking for a quality education. My only problem was the amount of homework that the students had to do each night. Unfortunately, I hear the same complaint from several other parents at different schools.
AS a parent of three students at Luther Elementary (ages 10yrs, 6 yrs and 4 years), I am proud to say how impressed I amw ith all the services and community involvement via the school's PTA there is. My son was having some difficulty in reading and was place an intensive reading program right away, which has made an enourmous difference. Also, it is very convenient having the preschool on the school site. We are vary pleased with the principal and teachers there.
Luther is a not a safe school to send your child to. They have poor supervision on the playground. I also noticed that the administration treats children unfairly, based upon his or her parents' PTA involvement with the school.
