Sunset Christian School provides the best educational value in Southern California. They have an outstanding student to teacher ratio. Every student gets quality one on one instruction. The teachers are committed to providing an academically rigorous, inspirational, interesting, and moral classroom environment. My child's fourth grade teacher was the greatest teacher I have ever encountered. He made sure my child was fully prepared for fifth grade and beyond. He spent many hours of his own time organizing amazing educational field trips and activities. Although the school has recently experienced a change in administration, Sunset Christian School continues to maintain a family type atmosphere where EVERY student is loved and encouraged. If you have the opportunity to send your child to Sunset Christian, do it immediately. It will be a decision that will make a positive impact upon your child for their entire lifetime.

This school has great staff and teachers, great prices, and my child is very happy here! The teachers are always there to lend a helping hand.

I have been at Sunset for many years and overall I am happy. I do agree that the school yard need to be updated. I don't agree that the school is all about money, if they were all about money tuition would be higher than what it is. My concern is the lack of reality. In my opinion, I think they get too caught up in the Biblical and Spiritual world and forget about reality. Not every problem can be solved Biblically (I am not saying don't pray), the children must be taught reality and what happens in the real world if we expect them to survive. My other concern is that they do not address issues right away and the teacher's kids get away with everything!

I have four children in Sunset. I had them tested in the summer at a tutoring clinic, all of them tested above their grade level! As far as the play yard they have updated many toys and added a play gym. I love all of the Teachers, they are awesome! I'm very blessed my children can attend Sunset, where they are happy and safe! ~*Cougars Rule~*!!

I love this school! My child was having bully issues at a previous school & Sunset welcomed us with open arms! I love the staffand yes, the school does need more outdoor equipment for the children to play with, but maybe we need to step it up as parents & try to fundraise. My only issue that I do have is that as a parent I have taught my little one to share, be nice, fair, not to hit or pick on each other and yes I do realise that my lil one may not do these things all the time but we need to constantly remind our kids to be this way towards each other. Go Cougars!

I get a lot of biblical knowlege form sunset but the other academics are inadequate. Once I got into high school Im not doing as well. The middle school teachers need to prepare the children more!

I attended the school for Jr. High and I've graduated from Sunset Christian with a big smile on my face but also with tears in my eyes. I could not let go of something so special to me. Throughout my years there, I grew spiritually every single day. There was not one minute where I didn't learn something new. The teachers and staff are so kind and they will take their time to pray/help you. Instead of giving the student a number like other schools, they address you by your name. They have prepared me 200% for both high school and the world and I am so thankful. I'd pay a billion dollars just to go back.

I have two children in this school and am very pleased. They are getting a great education academically and spiritually. I have never seen more caring teachers than some of those at Sunset. They don't have a lot of money due to keeping tuition down. They are always trying to improve in extra curricular activities. For us, we would rather see our children at a school where they are truly loved by their teachers. Sunset ihas been a wonderful experience for our whole family.

I think the school staff are very dedicated and caring. To keep costs down, the school depends on contributions (ie. snacks, toys)/ involvement from parents. My kids are very happy and I feel confident leaving my children there at school all day. Aside from academically, my children have also grown spiritually. I'm very happy with the school.

I agree with both statments made on Sept 06 and Aug 05. The childrens play area is very limited to activities for the children to participate in, althought I am very happy with the acedemics and learning plans, my child has learned a lot and is very happy with his classroom activities. I feel some investments should be made in other areas of the school to help accomidate the children more adiquitly.

Play is important for young children. Sanbox and bikes just don't cut it! This school is all about money rather than what's best for the child.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
