Solid public school with a strong sense of commitment by both the parents and teachers. Fortunate enough to maintain funding and small class size. Whole child concept valued: academic success important but certainly not the only goal. Strong PTA, committed parents, and a wonderful community help to make this a great place for a child to attend elementary school.
cheese is goooooooooooooood to to to to to to to to to to to to
Moved here from Iowa where my daughter attended a small private school. Wasn't sure what to expect but have been very happy with this school. small class size, teachers and parents that care.
At Top of the World the GATE program is attempted but falls far short of success. Top of the World wishes it would reach all the goals of the above writer but falls far far short in accomplishing its goals. TOW can be a very harsh environment, expecting perfection -- not excellence. It has many attributes, but is not perfect.
TOW provides integrated programs taught with a 'whole child' philosophy with outstanding enrichment programs taught by successful professionals brought in for each enrichment. They instill critical thinking , the love of education, positive self image, and supporting the idea of continuous growth through an enriched curriculum. The gifted (GATE) program is included in this concept. All children can have the GATE classroom challenges and all children can choose not to have them. Their GATE program clusters students to build friendships and provide more in-depth on a topic, allowing for more critical thinking, but NOT more work. TOW creates an environment where children can make happiness, socially develop and academically get as much as they want in any topic while being surrounded by endless parent involvement. It is a unique balance for all students and the focus on EACH child I've only seen in private schools. Hats off to LBUSD!
Great school for students within the 'bell curve' or special needs. NOT good for gifted students.
Our sons both attended Top of the World - and both were also in the CLC program. The level of parent involvement is very high and rewarding for both the kids and the parents. CLC children consistently achieve well later in school due to the caring environment and the responsibility placed on the students. The programs are concise and timely, and the staff is fantastic.
My son has been so fortunate to attend TOW for the past 3 yrs.! Dedicated teachers, positive enviroment...great PTA. Awonderful school!
Great learning environment with committed and loving teachers. Beautiful location and campus.
This school is the best. The teachers have, for the most part, been here for a very long time. They come and seem to stay because the school is so good. The parents at this school are above any school I have ever seen, with regards to volunteering and making positive choices and being available for almost anything asked. They are exceptionally supportive in their child's education. It shows in the students and is a great asset to the school and teachers as well.
