INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

Ellerth E. Larson Elementary School, I see a lot of great reviews of this school, and claims of their great test scores, BUT have you ever audited your childrens classes?? I think you would see this is false information. The teachers don't really seem to care about their students, just looking down, spitting out the assignments, not really caring if the students understand the assignments. And instead of explaining or "teaching" , they have no problem, just giving them the answer. The class sizes are large, which you can expect now in California schools, but the noise level in the classrooms are ridiculous! How can you concentrate reading a book, with that kind of noise level. I observed a child, go to the teacher and say the noise in the class is too loud, and she could not concentrate and read. And the teacher just said " I know".Thats it!! Really?! Looks like Lord of the Flies in the class! Some students were straight "breaking down". And the teacher just ignored them, or just never bothered to look up to observe the childrens reactions to what the teacher was, "teaching". And art is good, but seems like all day is random art, with no direction. The teachers are not good!

My son goes to this school since K. I am very much impressed with the performance of the teachers. This school is even much better than the private schools around both in Lodi and Stockton. I am a physician from Lodi Memorial Hospital and most of my colleagues from work send their kids to this school too. In fact, one of the oncologist's wife works for the school and they are thinking of moving to Lodi and they would send their kids to Larson too.

This is a fantastic school, tons of parental involvement and great teachers (except for one 1st grade teacher!) It has a uniform policy but unfortunately not all parents make their kids follow it like they should, otherwise we are extremely happy here, my children are advanced in all categories thanks to this school.

The school is really active with getting involved with the children not only their academics but their over all growth. Staff and teachers are friendly and very helpful. We came to Lodi not knowing anyone and my daughter had no friends. The staff was very patient with her and set up a buddy system so she could meet new friends and smile again..

To start, I couldn't say one Larson teacher or staff member is better than the other because they are all amazing. They have worked so hard to make it a Distinguished School. As for the parents, they work as equally hard to provide our students with fun activities and rewards throughout the year. They too are amazing.

Larson Elementary is a great school. The principle is wonderful. My only complaint is that the teacher we had last year did not put forth any effort in trying to help her students with understanding any difficult concepts. I am hoping that this is only one teacher and that the coming school year is better.

Although Larson is a school with only two years under it's belt, it runs with much more experience due to it's veteran Principle. Music classes and P.E. are standards, and GATE level classes are attainable, with many qualified teachers. The Parental involvement is very strong with a remarkable PTA and many fun activities for families helping to build a strong community in it's nearby neighborhoods. In our last two years of attending we have seen Literacy Week, Science Olympiads, Ice Cream Socials, Bingo Nights, Movie Nights and many many other great programs and extra's that other schools fail to deliver. It is at the fore front of new teaching methods, implementing the new Math Matters. And it's a great school if you want your children to Love to Learn.

The Quality of the academic programs are un paralleled in this area. The teachers really care about the students they are great. At times it seems that the principal doesn't want to actually interact with the children. Schools should be a warm place for learning.
